But then again, Nintendo's main fanbase doesn't seem to care about the value. I assume it's because of the small outlook on smaller titles like xbla psn games. On PS4 or Xbox One this would be questioned at even $20. It's like how in Canada New Super Mario Bros. Wii was $64.99 (highest priced game in years at that point), but Rayman couldn't even sell until it was like $20-$30. Either way, I'll get this game in the future if Nintendo actually drops the price. |
Why not try to look at it from another perspective. Why do third parties and other first parties launch their games at $60, when just a few weeks if not months from release they are reduced by 60% off and more. Not many complain that the early adopters get duped out of their dollars just because they the companies likes to overcharge their strongest fanbase. Strong case could be made that NIntendo's main fanbase knows that if they are buying a game it won't most likely be in bargain bin weeks after it hits the market. I would say Blizzard and few others are the same. Rest is well, race to the bottom and inflating backlogs.

Well the irony in your reply is "Why not try to look at it from another perspective."
- First thing, that's what you call reaching. I buy quite alot of Nintendo games, I've bought 3DS before the price drop etc. I have NEVER went and bought a game because I think it'll stay the same price for a while. That's called being naive lol.
- Second now that brings my example into play. Rayman Legends/Origins, they dropped in price because they were selling bad, just like the 3DS dropped in price because it wasn't doing good at the beginning. It has nothing to do with, "hey, let's screw early buyers and drop the price!" It's buisness, if Rayman's selling like 30k first week and nothing the next week that's a issue. I'll tell you this, if that happened to a Mario game with a expectation it would drop in price immediately.
- Most other companies slowly drop game prices so people can afford it or to get new people to give it a try. You seem to forget the tactics used for Nintendo don't work on PS or XB. It's way harder to be a successful game on those than Nintendo for the share fact, Nintendo is only really battling itself while other companies are at war with eachother on the other 2.
My point still stands. The Nintendo fanbase will buy these games at any price with no issue. Not like I'm criticizing or anything, I'm just stating something I've noticed. I bought Rayman full price, well Vita full price lol. But yeah, I've bought plenty of games I've felt are overpriced, like NSMB Wii lol (yes even though I used it in my original example). People buy based on what they're use to, if they're not flooded with digital games every week for about 8ish years. This is like PS2, GC and XB era to them with this. It's like "damn a game not full price!" While PSN and XBL users will usually think, I can get a bigger game for $10. But ohh well, I always thought Nintendo said this was digital only. I'm happy they created this though so (Y)
