I'm just not putting any faith in handheld Sonic games after what happened with Generations and Lost World!

I see; yeah, I guess you should be cautious in that case. The only Sonic game I've played was Sonic Heroes, so I don't really keep up with his games. Maybe the reviews will be positive?

You've only played Heroes? Well, I think you should give the Genesis games, Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations a try! Just my recommendations!

Haha, I'm not much of a platformer fan, despite being a fan of Nintendo. More of a Mario Party/Kart/Pokemon/Smash player myself. The only platformer I've played a good deal of is Kirby :)
