Yes, which allowed the IP to gain tons of popularity there. A sequel is just about guaranteed now.

You think? The reception wasn't very good. Unless it comes bundled with a PS5 at launch as the only buying option I don't see it being profitable or successful again.

According to Yoshida it was meant to show that the console is supposed to cater to the 'less hardcore' or whatever, but that inception has kind of died off unless you count LBP2. Maybe I'm missing some others :/

It was one of the only launch game that people cared about in Japan. So yes, the reception was pretty good in Japan.

How can you say that? As far as we know the reason it sold is because it was bundled with the PS4. Even japanese reviews of Knack had it as mediocre. That's means it was met with mediocre reception. Just because it sold a lot doesn't mean it was met with good reception.

What are your personal feelings on Knack? Good, mediocre or bad?

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Knack was a game pretty much made for Japan. It's bad, yeah, but it was one of only two or three allluring PS4 launch titles in Japan. The simple fact that it reached so many familys by being bundles in means that the popularity is probably mmuch better than it is here.

Bad-mediocre. I think kids would enjoy it though, which is why I believe it gained some popularity in Japan.

Reading the names make the list a lot more impressive.

Such amazing games like Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Xenoblade, Eternal Darkness, etc, etc.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Knacks pretty woeful and I cant imagine forcing a bad game on people would necesarily make the IP popular.  I never understood who it was aimed at, appparently kids but the difficulty was pretty frustrating even on the lower settings.

Yep, I miss Nintendo's works until the 64 (and GC) 90's - early 00's seeing all those new and amazing IPs coming out... Pokemon, Banjo & Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini, Animal Crossing,

Please stop being this generic party game company we're tired of Wii Play, Wii Sports, Wii Music, Wii Shit... Bring us core IPs again :'(

lol at the haters

at first it was "Nintendo does not make new IP".
hater is presented with list of new IP. hater be like "um uh, well the names are crap and the majority don't even have a sequel"
hater is then shown that the majority do have sequels but then says "uh um those are e-shop games so they should not be included" or "they never left Japan" or "the developer came up with the idea while he was taking a dump so those don't count"

keep on spinning! :D

the list is to prove that Nintendo has made lots of IP over the years not if it has sequels or if they are physical copies or digital

I've seen you do this one too many times recently, so I'd like to point something out to you.

Saying something not positive about Nintendo by using proper arguments, does not automatically make one a hater, the same way that not liking a director for the movies he's been making the last 5 years also doesn't mean that someone is a hater. Eg. while a hater will say that Tarantino is the worst, never made a good movie in his life, a 9-year-old can make a better movie, etc, a non-hater will say that he liked Kill Bill 1, but not 2, that his movies up to Grindhouse were awesome, but after that he hasn't done anything groundbreaking, etc.

Perhaps you should consider the possibility that not every non-Ninty fan is in fact a hater and what we have in this thread is not spinning as you constantly put it, but a different, equally valid opinion.

While haters do exist, are they really any better than people that see everything black and white with Ninty (or whichever company) never being at fault?

If I were you, I'd spend less time talkng about haters and more using proper arguments to counter theirs.

Just a thought.

Thank you! I know they aren't the best but there are still some impressive titles there. Nintendo does make series yet nobody buys them so that's why they keep making Mario and Zelda. They're good anyway

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

How many of these franchises are worth it?

Only about 10% I'd say.
