MS has to catch up. Its how it always goes between MS and Sony.

Thanks, this thread about a nice update from MS really needed some negativity and someone to remind us that Sony rules and MS drools. Thanks. Please bump when PS4 has these type of features and 3D BR support.

On Xbone there is no positives allowed, simple as that. If nobody comes, there is always STAGE, the positive Xbone thread saviour.

The Xbone has positives, otherwise I would've sold mine. Better display than Sony's XMB (still even though the content is essentially equal. Rare IP's, Gears and Ha lo (coming eventually).Since when did that ever change? i disconnected my Kinect so i really wish I could use that as a plus, but really its dead weight until something good cmes out for it. Can't wait for Scalebound from Platinum Games. Hopefully they can find the time to make progress quick enough for some gameplay so I can see it. The controllers mold also feels better than the PS4, even though the button layout isnt completely for me and the shell was cheaply put together.

P.S.

See? I can say positive things about Microsoft. ;)

LOL Imagine they last gen they were trying to kill of Blu Ray and now they are fully supporting it. :)

What exactly did they try?

They jumped on the HD-DVD bandwagon to try and undercut Blu Ray's progress. You know...what MS usually does. When someone ventures out and does something they attach themselves to a neighboring brand and either help them or buy them to use their products against the enemy ::Cough::Sega, Nokia, Project Natal::Cough:: Toshiba should never have sided with MS unless HD-DVD was the main format of the Xbox 360. A wasted venture. MS only used to them to distract the crowd for a moment and watch the ship fall. Of course...MS has no remorse about using them.

"Relying on Microsoft: Toshiba thought the Xbox was the right answer to the PS3/Blu-ray combo. In studio pitches it probably sounded reasonable. But Microsoft's support for HD DVD was tepid - like their support for anything non-Microsoft - and the optional Xbox HD DVD player never generated the volumes Toshiba hoped for."

"To Sony's credit Sony's key strategic move was to bundle Blu-ray into the PS3. That cost them hundreds of millions of dollars as the price of the PS3 didn't recover costs. It also delayed their entry into the market, giving the loss-making Xbox a valuable head start."

Of course, even HDNet agrees with my sentiments. Of course, their risk was later rewarded.

Some decent new features here. Sony is falling behind here

MS going HD-DVD was only obvious because bluray was from Sony side back then and especially the format wars weren't finished. So if it happened to be HD-DVD Sony would have lost even more money than it was doing back then. This is not "typical MS", just a decision to go for the other medium.

Sadly, the worse format (Java, big big *sigh*) won...

Yeah...the worse format won. That makes so much sense. I am just thankful that we don't have an all digital console (because the market just isnt ready yet) and Sony offered an upgradable format that can go from 50GB to 100GB or more (which can stretch the advantage of Blu Ray from one console to the next). The very strength which is why Sony was called to the gaming industry in the first place. A strength is a strength. MS doesn't know what they want when it comes to format outside of DRM locked digital gaming. Sorry, I'm not completely on board yet. I don't want consoles to go to the way of the PC. Of course all consoles have DRM, but not enough to ruin the party for console gamers at the current moment.

What? Now you are getting confused, STAGE. I was only comparing HD-DVD with bluray, without *any* gaming context and the format war was years ago... Don't know how you want to translate this to now.

sigh.

not that it matters but allow me to apologize. this turned into an unnecessary distraction from the OP.

I personally like MS and Sony to play at a weak position.  When that happens they try to out due each other.  PS+ is a good example.  I wonder if Nintendo being on top is the best situation for all gamers.

The sales don't lie. Third parties didn't thrive during Nintendos short reign last gen.

Third partys did thrive, but only when they where exclusives.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

No, hence why Nintendo stated they would've liked to pursure greater sales with major third party games and boasted about having the best graphicswith the Wii U until Sony and MS took the rug out from under them. Nintendo was warned by a news anchor as well that a storm was coming and Reggie denied it until the inevitable occured (Saw the video..pretty funny seeing Nintendo gloat until it was shut down by a female anchor). Just dance was also on other consoles but sold the best on the Wii because everyone and their grandmother had it.

DVDs are still selling more than Blu-rays and the industry is quickly moving from physical to digital medium. MS was right to skip BR when they made X360. Back then, it wasn't worth the cost and it never caught on like BRD Association wanted it to.

Can you guys please vote on my idea on Xbox user voice page? It asks MS to develop a Futsal (Hall football/soccer)on X1.
