I'm kind of excited for this, it actually sounds pretty good. That said, I still expect them to mess this one up, there's just so much that could go wrong with this. Anyway, I just wanted to leave this here:

Any gameplay video? After their work with Wolfenstein: The New Order I think id has a good chance of delivering on the new Doom.

The New Order wasn't developed by id Software, it only uses their engine.

Oh, my bad, didn't knew that... So their last game was Rage? I enjoyed it too, I always saw it as a better version of Borderlands. I hope they fix the performance issues with texture streaming in their engine. Both Rage and Wolfenstein had some issues with that.

I used some config tweaks for Rage and installed it on a SSD to avoid the texture streaming issues. I actually bought my first SSD at the time when Rage came out. Unfortunately, my GTX 560 Ti 2GB wasn't able to run the highest possible texture quality (16K), you needed 3GB.

it feels like 2004. (its been 10 years? realy?) we need a new quake 2016 to round up the 2004 feeling!

Yeah, 2004 was great for PC shooters. Half-Life 2, Doom 3, UT 2004, Far Cry, Painkiller, CS: Condition Zero (well, it was unnecessary) and CS: Source.
But 1999 was the year of the "big 3" multiplayer shooters. Quake 3, Counter-Strike and UT '99.

This may just be the game to turn me back into FPS again.
(Still wish they had shocked the world with a TPS but oh well)

Yes, I have the same kind of issues (GTX650) that won't allow me to push textures higher. But it actually runs well on my GPU because it's already an older game. Wolfenstein has more problems with texture loading. There are some bugs to, sometimes Wolfenstein will start with bugged textures (like PS2 level textures) and I have to restart the game and it will start with its normal textures. What I don't understand is that the textures don't look that good to justify this kind of performance, specially when games like Crysis 2/3 and Metro LL perform well with visibly better textures. I think they should fix or drop the megatextures.
About the maximum texture quality, when I try to use it, the game drops to 2 or 3 fps. But if you actually wait some minutes, they finish loading (or buffering) and the game rises to 60fps. Of course, it's not viable because this giant loading will happen everytime you change scenarios. But it makes me wonder if they aren't doing something wrong there.
