Forums - Gaming - Putting the PC cost argument to rest

If you gona buy a budget PC (wich will still cost a lot more than a PS4/XOne) youre not gona have better graphics and still wont get the exclusive games. If you want the kind of graphics the Pc crowd tend to brag about you need to spend a ridiculous amount of money, its that simple.

Except PC is nowwhere near a niche market. Do you realise how many people use Steam now? Your statement is ignorant beyond belief.

When you make outlandish generalizations like that things can tend to get outta hand.

I have a steam account from way back in 2007. I go on thre every other month or so to see if theer is something groundbreaking. As far as valve is converned, I own a steam account. That doesn't mean shit. Last I checked there are 75M active steam accounts. There is no way of knowing exactly how many of those are every day users, duplicate acoounts for whatever reason or accounts made simply outta curiosity or due to some sort of promotion at the time. And if you knowstam you will know that a lot of people have more than one account. But what do I know, I am ignorant after all......

But you know what, I am gonna stop replying to you. Apparently you can't seem to have a simple conversation without letting it dissolve to derogatory statements.

Dude, you should check who Monolith Soft belongs to and maybe then you'd realise they have no say whatsoever on this matter. All your "they can't" arguments are bs. If Nintendo wanted to do anything with the game, they'd do it, they can release another print any time they see fit and nothing or nobody on this planet can stop them.

Is e-shop even a bigger piece of garbage than I thought it was? It really takes that much effort to put a game on it, that it would steal resources from games in development!? Yikes!

Dude, stop being an ass. It would not natively work on the Wii U OS without doing a port. It would steal resources from more important things to do a port. You automatically think that "it's just a wii, and it has wii mode, that means wii games must work natively without any effort" The Wii U natively has no ability to play Wii games on it's own OS, nor will it ever. That's why there is Wii Mode. the Wii Shop, not the eShop (learn the fucking difference) is unable to support full retail Wii games.

The eShop can, but Nintendo wont spend their time and money in to porting the game to the Wii U, from the Wii just to lower the cost that retailers have decided to jack up (not Nintendo) on Xenoblade....

This is a question of porting, not wether the eShop can support these titles (the biggest title on Wii U being 21gb). You're just finding a reason to hate Nintendo now.

There were 75 million steam accounts as of Januari 2014. Current peak usage is 6.8 million users. But even that counts all people that are logged in. I'm always logged in on Steam on my laptop (to check deals now and then, and what's new). Yet I rarely actually play a game on Steam. Last was The Stanley parable from the last sale. I can't be the only one to just leave it 'on'
Then look at the hardware stats, how many of those users have a gaming pc that can keep up with ps4 and xbox one. And the latest Ubisoft Q1 earnings showed PC revenue slice down to 17%.
I would take those 75 million user accounts with a grain of salt, just like those 150 million psn accounts.

PC not a niche market, gaming pcs are though. Most people don't care and game on what they have, or simply buy stuff in sales and never play most of them...

Anyway both pc and consoles are a niche market compared to 1.5 billion smart phones in the world. It's all relative.

Is calling your statement ignorant derogative? If so, I apologise. But like I already said, 8 million simultaneous users during a sale this summer. That is in no way "niche". In no way did I call you ignorant as a person, but your statement certainly was.

I have an active steam account. From 10 years ago. That I havent used since. Id like to know exactly how they came up with that number. Throwaway accounts ect.

Also, calling someones post ignorant because they have a different opinion is pretty dense, and not very good communication skills.

I didn't call him ignorant, I called his statement ignorant. A very big difference. And his statement was very ignorant.

And I'm talking about current Steam users. This summer, there were over 8 million people online simultaneously on Steam. And that's only the people that were logged in at that moment. An entire one million over the last record, which was last winter. PC gaming is growing faster than ever, and is not a niche market.

I know you called his post ignorant, thats why I said it was dense to do that. I didnt say you called him ignorant.

PC gaming may be growing, but it is still niche. I dont mean wives playing farmville on facebook. I mean AAA playing pc gamers. It may seem like a lot when u are online and can find active communities for it, but when you are out in the general population face to face, I could find a hundred, if not hundreds, of console or mobile players before I come across a PC gamer.

Most people who are continuously logged into a Steam account use it. Steam logs off so much (when you restart your PC, swich users, etc.) that most people wouldn't re-enter their passwords twice a day unless they use it in some way.

If you think PC gaming is niche, power to you. It's not. Comparing wives playing Farmville to Steam users actively looking at game deals is a terrible comparison.

And if I am dense for calling an ignorant statement ignorant, so be it. I would say it's kind of rude for you to be calling my person dense, but ah well.

My laptop is always on (sits on the table plugged in), I never switch users, restart once a month maybe, then Steam auto logs in anyway. (re-enter password?) My up time according to the task manager is 43 days atm. For all the negative, MS got a stable one with windows 8!
The only time Steam logs me out is when I drag my desktop over to the projector to play a pc game there. Can't be logged in on two locations at once. That was months ago.
Maybe I'm unique, maybe other people use it to chat, who knows how many people are actually playing.

I called your act dense, not you, just like u called his post ignorant and not him. I think you are reading too fast. Maybe from trying to reply to too many people.

But, if you say (AAA) PC Gaming is not niche, then its not niche.
