Forums - Sales - Why PS4 and Xbox One are too expensive

When you compare the $400 to a lot of mobile phones a lot of teens have, I'd have to disagree.

but but they get them on a monthly plan and like upgrade every 6months.

Ontopic. Please, going to the movies in America is so damn cheap I cannot see how that impacts them that much to buy a console.

The majority of people buying systems are adults. The average gamer is in his late 30s and teens can only get a job after 15. So I highly doubt that teens are the ones buying all the consoles. Most get a console on a birthday or holiday season from their parents anyways. If you think consoles cost too much you should be focused on school or getting a better job. Because if they cost less we would be getting 2 more Wii U's.

Well if you want IMAX 3D and in Manhattan. it's 18$ usually.

They are too expensive because people don't make enough money.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I don't agree, at least this early in any generation. It's primarily adults (mostly single males in their 20s-30s) who have jobs/disposable income or bored kids in college that buy new systems. The later majority is much more made up of families

Even amongst fairly upper class families I knew growing up, the kids never bought the systems -- their parents did. Once they had the system, they'd spend their own money on games.

There hasn't been that "Wow, I know my kids really would love it if I got this system for this game they want" type moment yet because things like Call of Duty, Skylanders, even Watch Dogs and Titanfall are still available on last generation hardware.

Mario Kart 8 was the first to do anything like that. Destiny could do the same thing even if it has last gen versions too. I think Amiibo is going to seal the deal for Nintendo and families with young children.

But you're right about the price point. I think whoever gets into the sub-$300 price point first this holiday will enjoy a great sales boost

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Then why arent they buying the WiiU?

He already answered that though. They're teens.

The reason they are too expensive is because they have no games other than stuff you can get on last gen and PC. I don't see how they're beating Wii U

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

I think there was some research published that said the average age of people buying consoles were people in their 30's.
