Forums - Gaming - Do people still care about Trophies / Achievements ?

Yes definitely. I enjoy getting them. I don't try too hard to get every achievement and usually give up really fast if the achievements are too hard or take too long. If a game has easy achievements but I don't like the game, I won't bother completing it.
And I still love playing Nintendo games even though they don't have any system similar to achievements and trophies. I just wish Nintendo would implement them in their games too.

I like them because of replay value and a way to show off the games I've played to my friends.

A real gamer plays for the fun and the game experience and not stupid trophies who are useless, but this only my opinion ;)

Of course it's your opinion, the sad reality of it though is that, you're in the minority of gamers who think that.

Then I live in a sad gaming world ;)

The only people that would say this are people who are stuck with a wii u......

This gimmick never grabbed my attention.

I'd say "people" care exactly the same amount about cheevies now as they have for the past 6 years or so.

Never took them into consideration when buying a game, but I did enjoy collecting trophies. However, with my limited time now, I don't really care about collecting trophies. I just play the game, beat it and move on to the next. I did promise myself that I would platinum Lightning Returns, so I can have all three XIII games platinumed.

I cared for all of 1 week, then didn't really give a damn anymore

yes, will try to get whatever trophies i'm able to, it just something to add into my account for sharing purpose, but won't force myself to get trophies that is too difficult for me and also will not taken into consideration when buying game...

another good thing about it was actually its kinda challenge reward added for a game replay value, as you know some great games doesn't really have a replay value after you complete it...

It doesn't much matter to me, but I will admit there are some achievement/trophies I like to get, specifically ones that challenge you to play a game in a way you may not have considered or oddball challenges. One of my favorites came from half life 2 episode 2 where you had to lug around a garden gnome from the start of the game all the way to the end and put it on the rocket to launch into space. It was stupid and pointless, but it left me with an odd feeling of pride as I watched the gnome launch.

The worst of the worst though are the ones that unlock from natural progression through the game.
