Are you honestly telling me that you liked Skyward Sword/A Link Between Worlds and Black/White (or X/Y) better then Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask/Link's Awakening and Pokemon Red/Blue/Gold/Silver?

Black/White I understand, I about gave up on Pokemon until that released, but it's still not the same as the originals.

Ocarina of Time and Link's Awakening (especially the latter) are overrated in my opinion.
Majora's Mask is a huge improvement though not a game for everyone. The Wind Waker is also a better game though it has some big flaws. Trying to be as unbiased as possible, I think there's no doubt the best Zelda game is A Link to the Past. My favorite is Skyward Sword though.

As for Pokémon, same stuff here. I hated Diamond/Pearl and pretty much gave up on the series until the awesomeness that were Black/White came out. These games brought the franchise to a whole new level and it has been only improving ever since. X/Y are undeniably the best Pokémon games.

Everyone's entinted to their own opinion. The other person I'm quoting says Diamond/Pearl was his favorite Pokemon.

I love Skyward Sword too btw, but I haven't played too much of it to be able to judge it fully. I'm not a huge Zelda fan (MM & OoT are 40 in my top 50 games on the thread at the end of the year), but I really appreciated Skyward Sword. Wind Waker I just thought was a downfall of the franchise, not because of the graphics, but because the lack of challenge and the underwhelming boss fights. IMO Link's Awakening and Aracle of Ages/Seasons are much better then A Link Between Worlds because they pushed the envelope for the time. Link's Awakening released in 1993 and to have that type of game fit on a handheld was unreal. A Link Between Worlds feels like it was developed quickly and hardly pushes the 3DS to its limit.

As for Pokemon, I agree with you about Black/White, but X/Y was a bit of a let-down. No substantial Post-Game mode, the legendary Pokemon are about as unique and powerful as the 3 legendary birds in the first game (basically useless except for maybe Zapdos) and all the new Pokemon are really lame. I did like how you could use an original starter though and catch MewTwo.

But again with Pokemon, it pushed the envelop a lot harder before then it does now. The reason why there are only 150 Pokemon in the original game is because that's all that would fit (They introduced 20 of the original Pokemon in Gold/Silver). Plus there was a lot more uniformity between Pokemon back then, except for Dragonite and MewTwo most of the better Pokemon in the game were about on par (Gyrados was on par with Lapras, Coloyster and Blastoise). Now, there is a lot of bias.

(Not the one you were talking to but) SS is my favorite Zelda game and Link Between Worlds looks amazing. OoT is probably my least favorite, and Link's Awakening is pretty good, but I doubt it is better than ALBW...

Also, as someone who has only played Pokemon Blue, Yellow, White and X...the new ones are a lot better than the old ones...they may have been more "fresh" back then but they have certainly improved quite a bit.

OoT is a bit over-rated, I prefer Majora's Mask, but I can see why people often say that this is the best game ever made. For a 1998 game it really pushed the envelop. Skyward Sword looks good, I've only put in a few hours, but I'm sure I'll like it on par to the N64 iterations. So long as I don't have to be a wolf for half the game like in Twilight Princess.

and yes LA is better then ALBWs. Remember this released in 1993 when the standard was Tetris. ALBW's might be technically better, but for what I expect from a 3DS game it falls way way short on quality.

As for Pokemon improving, I disagree. Before Pokemon were severely limited on the TM's they could learn, now every decent Pokemon can learn at least 1 bad ass move. Plus the uniqueness of each Pokemon is crap now. Magicarp becoming Gyrados was a huge thing in 1995, since then where have I see another weak Pokemon becomes super strong? SlaKing in Ruby/Sapphire? He ignores orders all the time!

While I agree that Pokemon has been a little bit too stagnant and it needs to make some pretty big steps pretty soon, I still think that it has gotten progressively better. Black/White was amazing, and while X/Y didn't do a lot of things quite as well (Post game and Story most notably), it did take a lot of steps forward that made the game better as a whole (I personally love Mega Evolution, upgraded XP share, Fairy types, character customization, the world was interesting and the Pokemon design was great).

And speaking of pokemon design, XY was extremely strong and interesting, including some of my now-favorite pokemon. The starters were great (most notably Greninja), and the Honedge line was fantastic (I love the Stance Change of Aegislash), Evolution of Inkay was cool, Tyrantrum was a gread addition and Hawlucha may be my favorite Bird pokemon ever...

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287
