what? I said maybe and it doesn't make the remaster any less unecessary. too soon.

and how is sony suposed to "make sure" the bolded happens? it's not exactly in their hands.

Well, it's not maybe, 1 million is pretty much a given. And it does certainly make it less unnecessary, if Sony wants this series to be big then it's a pretty good start to have the first game on the system and if people want it on PS4, then it's not up to you to say "No, it's too soon for that"

And lol, yeah Sony can't do anything to make the game sell, they can't bundle it at all...

bold: why?

bold2: you speak as if the company's will is capable of making a remaster sell 2m.

I guess you're just joking, right? How is it not in their hands? They are selling it, aren't they? They can easily just bundle it for free for holidays with every PS4, and...presto.... 3+ million sold without blinking.

Obviously they won't be selling it to you, but I guess it's their cross to bear...

if it was in the company's hands, every game would sell millions.

1: Because it's one of the best games ever and has gathered a pretty serious amount of attention, add to that a release in the dry summer and you have a pretty easy million seller. Also look at it on Amazon in different countries and if you want look at vgchartz' pre order chart you to see that the game is doing pretty well.

2: A holiday bundle that includes TLOU is pretty much a safe million added to the game, maybe more. You can always add more bundles to bring the game into more households pretty easy.

bold: not even close

bold 2: if it was an original release, yes.

bold 3: the pre orders chart point to something like 250k FW in Us + Canada, maybe close to 500k global. but it will probably be very front loaded. 1kk is possible, but that's it, a possibility.

bold 4: Not the same thing.

Yes, it is one of the best games ever.

Re-releasing The Last of Us right now makes a lot of sense.

Many PS4 owners did not have a PS3 last gen, so these are potential "future customer" for the franchise. They must be likely to be working on a sequel right? (I have not completed the game. Please do not spoil. Just looking for a Yes or No)

Any sales for this Re-master is beneficial. The game has over 5M sales from people who owned a PS3. If TLOU2 releases in a couple years then the potential to grow from the original is greater, since the player base is now larger.

Waiting to re-release this AFTER The Last of Us 2 would be a terrible move. Saying it would be better if they worked on something else instead of this makes no sense. It is a great growth opportunity for the franchise. Why would you not take advantage?

1. Oh, so you played it? No? Then I guess your opinion on this is utterly worthless. You don't get 200 GOTY awards for nothing.

2. Doesn't matter if it's an original release, it's a huge hit made even better and this rerelease has gathered a huge amount of attention.1 million is a given.

3. Oh it will be frontloaded, great and you know that how? Again 1 million is a given.

4. Not the same thing? How? You better not tell me that you don't want to count bundled sales, a sale is a sale. Period.

Zero999 saying the game would sell more if "any arbitrary conditions happens" is funny since he never predict anything right by a couple millions margin. So now I rest safe that sony made the best choice.

I didn't know basic knowledge is now "arbitrary conditions". also saying that I "never predict anything right by a couple millions margin" is a lie AND trying to derail the thread.

Nothing official yet of course, but I'd say yes they are definitely going to continue the franchise on PS4.

I figured with them hitting 6M in sales back in March, they must be thinking of making another.

I expect them to be somewhere near 7M shipped+digital soon. Any new customers from the PS4 remaster only adds to this already quite large number.
