Forums - Sony Discussion - "I don't get the point of TLOU Remastered"

I still think a remake of 1 year old game is overkill.

I dont care what some of you would say .

PS4 curb stomping TLOU:Re haters home console of choice is the source of most of it. Then TLOU cleaning up all the GOTY awards is another factor. Funny other companies remastering games is praised with excuses like, "but but but that remastered game (insert excuse here - usually splitting hairs like a game has to be released a certain time ago, etc)." So, just try to ignore them as they punish themselves by not buying a PS4 like most of the gaming world is.

Thanks jlmurph!

Splitting hairs? You're kidding right? You can't see the difference between re-releasing and improving a decade old or more game to one that just released last year?

I think it is useful for people coming from 360 or that simply didn't had a console before PS4. It's a later PS3 game that a lot of people wanted to play.

The point of TLOU Remastered is obviously to make $$$$!

Elitists and narcissists.  The internet has them.

They must also not understand the point of Wind Waker HD, GTA V on PS4/XBone or GoTY Editions.

Actually I don't see anyone really complaining about those, but PS4 is winning right now, so TLoU warrants complaining, since it costs $50, just like WWHD and actually less than your typical GoTY Edition.

Just ignore those people.

Except TLoU is a game that was released a year and a half ago with no original plans to bring it to the PS4. The new "remastered" version is only a graphics increase with DLC. Meanwhile, WWHD is a decade old game which was truly remastered, and GTA4 was planned to come to the nextgen platforms regardless.

The bottom line is this: TLoU: RM is a port. No more and no less. When people get excited for a port, thats when you know they have no games to play.

That's exactly the kinda crap I was talking about with this thread, other rereleases are great but TLOU is shit and unneeded.

I mean seriously? Do you know that a lot more work went into TLOU RE than into WW HD, which was done mostly by 4 people and in 6 months time? How is WWHD "truly remastered" while TLOU RE is "only a graphics increase with DLC"? Because the game is older?

And GTA V is ok, since it was apparently planned to come to next gen platforms regardless, what spin is this? Not only is it news to me that GTA V for next gen was planned from the start, but it's also ok to rerelease your game on new platforms a year after its original release, if you planned to do so from the beginning, but not if you didn't plan to but instead saw demand for the next gen version and thus decided to do it? BS.

The bottom line is: getting excited for one of the best games ever to release in an even better state on your platform does not mean that you have no games to play.

They did fix some of the shittier parts of Wind Waker in the port but WW is just shitty enough of a game that I'll concede to your point.

It's basically a game of the year edition, except on a different console. Can't really complain but it is certainly no reason to get a PS4.

Why not? An X360 user who is debating moving into 8th gen, this could be an enticing exclusive, a game acclaimed by critics and users alike. And with a great deal on a bundle, at least in Europe, this could sell really well.

Also, Sony has stated that 30% of PS4 users are new to the brand, so there's an already existing base of some 2 million people. If the game sells to only 20% of them, the game will sell 400K, and Sony will make a neat bundle of cash for a very affordable investment. And I think nobody expects the sales to be that low.

I never believe Sony when it throws it PR around so I certainly don't beleive that 30% of PS4 users are new to the brand, but thats not really the point lol. The last of us is a reason to get a sony console, however it is also on the PS3, the console with a multitude of games that 360 users havent played and is far cheaper.

Well I dont think GTAV is needed either. Great for PC gamers though. Wind Waker HD is different though. Its a 10 year old SD game. They also fixed many problems people had with it.
