What I think they should do is make a decently powerful home console that can compete in terms of power with the PS5/Xbox 4(Two?), and a handheld that's a bit more powerful than the Vita (like how the 3DS is a bit more powerful than the PSP), but both platforms should run the same/almost the same OS (like how both old and new PCs can run Windows 8, and unlike the WiiU and 3DS which have similar looking OSs with drastically different development environments), which accomplishes their goal of unifying platform development without merging the 2 platforms, and this also makes it easy for third parties and especially indies to port their games between platforms, this increasing their potential sales without having to work hard porting from 1 platform to another. Of course more connections should be implemented within the platforms (cross buy, shared virtual console, maybe even let the HDS/whatever have the ability to be used as a controller for the WiiX/better name).

So kinda like I could pick up my 3DS now and turn on my WiiU a few metres from.me and play a WiiU game fully streamed on both 3DS screens so I don't lose any functionality? Cos if I can do that next gen fghbrytuudgfhfbcb!!!!!!!!!!

That and the ability to use a handheld as a controller (I.e one person would play using a normal controller and the other using an HDS since they share the same buttons.

So, the Thwii should be the Vita+ Vita TV?

Also, if you can fold it twice, does that mean it will have 4 screens? Because I'm pretty sure it's impossible to fold a screen.

Samsung demoed foldable screens.

That is a piece of paper, not a solid piece of hardware with actual buttons, but I suppose it could work in theory if the two folds were parallel

When folded it should be the size of a folded dsxl at most.

Insane battery.

Yeah, right... so what battery technology do you propose?

Graphene? XD

If Nintendo wants to survive next gen, if there is one, they'd do a hybrid. Wii U is a step in that direction. I mean, just think, any developer could make a game and it'd instantly be available for handheld and console. Nintendo needs to do this. I'd bet it would cost a boatload of dough though.

Yes 4 screens, but to save costs you could always make them non touchpad/non 3d screens and just have 1080p output built into them.

next console should have a cool name!

that will sell alone

Switch!!!

I think their next home/handheld combo will play the same software to some extent, and have access to all of the old stuff. But there will likely still be two units. You can't make an insanely powered portable. It's just not possible.

The Wii u is slightly better than the 360/ps3 graphics (which launched in 2005/2006) but worse than ps4/xbone (which launched in 2014) so let's just say the Wii U has graphics that were on par with good pc's during 2009 just to establish a base here. So, if the Wii U can use graphics that are roughly 5 years old, if when the next Nintendo fusion handheld launches in, let's say, 2017, you're saying you don't think that handheld will be capable of running at least graphics that were mastered in 2009 (about 8 years prior)?

The 3ds (which launched in 2011) clearly has better graphics (at least visually to me in the many games I've played on it) that are better than the gamecube (which launched in 2001). Granted, there is a 10 years gap between 3ds/gamecube whereas there is only a 8 years gap (based my my guess of dated technology in wii u) because wii u and the next fusion thing (if it comes).

I'm saying that a device playing 2009 spec PC graphics in 2017 is hardly what would be called "insanely powered".  It would be powerful for a handheld, but as a successor to Wii U would be considered weak.
