Forums - Gaming - Powers part of Sony E3 conference was "a mistake", says Yoshida

An out of place announcement always does more harm than good.

When they DO decide to reveal it, most people will switch off because they weren't interested back then, they wont be interested in it now.

I for one am probably one of the few people who was looking forward to the show a few years ago back when it was shot for FX, so it will always be on my radar.

Talking about the Ratchet and Clank movie was a waste of time too.

that was one of the best parts!  Especially when they revealed the remake/reimagining just afterwards

I didn't think it was as bad as the TV stuff, but it was getting really dull and the conference was already too long. If they had only showed the movie trailer then the conference would have been much better.

That I agree on. I was pretty excited to see more about the Ratchet & Clank movie, and it gave me hope because so far the movie doesn't look like a typical failed videogame based flick.

Off-topic, I wonder how will the R&C remake will be: a complete revamp of the graphics and engine from the original game, or the R&C game remade from scratch?

At least they realize their mistakes...

well they already did an HD remaster so they must be full on reimagining it and they already said there will be new gameplay sequences

Good for him for acknowledging the mistake.

That being said, "Powers" was far from the only issue with the show. It was overlong, poorly paced, and tedious. There were some highlights -- Far Cry, Arkham Knight, the surprise reveal of Grim Fandango -- but mostly it was a slog to get through.

My advice to Yoshida, a man I respect a lot, is this: streamline the presentation. Make it simpler, make it shorter, make it more surprising, and, instead of distracting us with cinematic trailers and CGI video, explain to us what makes your games worth playing.

no they revealed plenty and filled up whatever length it was without that part with content that was interesting but thier new SCEA president sucks at public speaking and they should just have House handle E3 until he either gets as smooth as Jack or close to it or gets fired lol

Well, I definitely agree with your second point. Say what you will about Tretton, he really knows how to work a room. No one else at Sony's event demonstrated his level of charisma.

Well, at least they realize that.

Hopefully they learn from this.

Sony won regardless, though Nintendo had me with StarFox and Yoshi.

*shrugs* as someone who reads Bendis' comics, it didn't bother me. But i can see how it'd bore people who didn't even know who that guy was

Well, yeah they're right. Good to see them admitting it though.
