Titanfall is the first game of a new AAA IP and who said that the cost for the exclusivity are so high as creating 4 new AAA IP??? Your post are absolutly fantasy wishes and makes absolutly no sense :D And Microsoft HAS ALREADY bought the first Titanfall even there are more PlayStation 4 out there ;)

I'm afraid business realities are irrefutable.

You didn't make the case as to why buying Titanfall 2 exclusivity would be preferable to Microsoft spending the same amount of money developing their own titles.

And no, when Microsoft bought the first TF exclusivity moneyhat, there were ZERO PS4 out there. The market expected XB1 to be the leader in gen8 for the US at least (and not lose so horribly elsewhere), so the contract was probably cheap given they bet on there not being a huge amount of lost potential sales.

As for the cost of TF2 exclusivity : if they plan on it being something in the range of a COD with ~10M or so lifetime sales on a major platform (eg : PS4 in 2015-2016 timeframe when TF2 would be coming out), they would have to compensate the IP holder for those 10M lost sales.

10,000,000 x $27 = $270M dollars. And yes, you CAN make 4 AAA games on that. Or more, if you're smart with how you do it (dev 1 new engine, share resources, etc).

Sorry, but your numbers are totally fantasy, I don't know from where you have such numbers but no one knows how much the excusivity of Titanfall has costs ;)

I just provided you the numbers.

One can expect major AAA hits to sell in the range of 10M copies during the 2015-2016 timeframe. $27 of a $60 release goes to the publisher. Bingo : exclusivity for a title to preclude selling 10M copies must compensate the publisher for lost sales.

It's common sense so absolutely plain and unambiguous that it borders on trolling to deny it. Even if you bend the numbers downwards considerably (let's even call it HALF, or 5M lost sales x $27/ea), you're still talking $135,000,000 for that contract.

I'm sorry to tell you, but it's not going to happen (TF2 XB1 exclusive). The financials just don't make sense. They are so far from making sense that it's laughable.

YEA . SINGLE PLAYER FOR ME .. IF NOT I DONT BUY IT, AND THESE ASSHOLES WANA SELL THE GAME FOR $60 WTF ,ASSASINCRID THE MP HAVE MORE CONTENT THAT TITANFALL ITS RIDICULOUS

Who said it's coming to PlayStation 4???

Everyone.

Yeah right, like The Last Guardian :D These posts are still all rumors and speculation, wait until Microsoft opens their wallet and make a big party with Respawn and then we will see ;)

Lol, MS's wallet isn't big enough. EA is stupid but not that stupid. But if you want to be naive then i'll just bookmark this post and bump this topic when the ps4 version is inevitably confirmed.

ok, we will see ;)

I bet you 1 Bitcoin that the Franchise will go to PS4.

There were rumors of TLG going multiplat that were confirmed wrong?  Must have missed that.  And I don't get some people's fascination with MS's wallet.  It's as if you think MS's endless billions is completely open for the Xbox division to grab some whenever they want.  That is hardly the case, at all.  In fact, if things don't turn around this year with the $399 One, you can bet your ass that you're going to see less and less of MS buying exclusives, timed or otherwise, in the coming years.

Some investors are already chomping at the bit to get rid of the division and have MS focus on what really makes them money.  Even Bill Gates said he would be completely fine if they spun off the Xbox division and left it to its own devices, which means it would most likely be bought by another company or die under its own weight.  He did say he didn't think it would happen, but I think it means he knows there is pressure to get rid of it, especially with the way this gen is going, and is okay with what needs to be done.

And finally (but most importantly), with how little Titanfall helped the One, I HIGHLY doubt MS is going to lose the same kind of money they did on the first Titanfall, just to secure the series.  And EA would be foolish to see the 3.5M+ gap that Sony has aquired in just a matter of months (it will be quite a bit larger by the time Titanfall 2 is ready to launch), and ignore it.  Plus, they have given no confirmation about it exclusive to MS.  In fact, it's just the opposite, with them dropping hints that future titles will be multiplat.

@ OP

I agree.  There are millions of gamers who either don't like playing online, or just do it occassionally, like myself.  A multiplayer only game does not appeal much to gamers like me.  I think Respawn has realized this, as just a few days ago they said that a single player campaign is not out of the question.  Heck, I'd except a really good local/online co-op campaign, too.

And for people who doubt that Titanfall will be mulitplat, see above.

To increase sales? I would agree.

To make it worth a purchase from me? Not necessarily. One of my favorite games last gen to play online was Unreal Tournament 3 and that was online only with no real campaign.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I definitely won't buy it if there isn't a single player campaign. I rarely play multiplayer aspects of shooters, as they bore me to death.

A real campaign for the PS4 version? What about the Nintendo WiiU version ?

There is no guarantee of a second titanfall. The game didnt set the charts on fire, and it wouldnt have a massive sales difference if it were multi-cross plat(PS3/4 & X1/360). Keep in mind fair amount of Titanfall sales are sales based on there being no games to play(which happens with every new console launch). Companies like EA are looking for the next Call Of Duty, hell Activision is looking for the next call of duty. Its kind of like what has happened with World of Warcraft. Everyone dumped a ton of money into new MMOs trying to be the next WOW. Most games were for all purposes abandoned(free to play or killed entirely) within a year or so cause they realised they didnt have the next WOW. Titanfall wont be the next COD, in fact its looking like the next Medal of Honor. EA has Battlefield and Battlefront and its probably safer to ride that.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

The game lacked content on the mp side, they should start with fixing that.
