Forums - Politics - Will Religion ever be illegal in America?

I'M currently in my 2nd week of a 3 week missionary trip to Nigeria building houses, fixing houses, tending to farms, and helping children overcome traumas of past and present(in part by the recent bombings and tribal discord)

not all religious people are looking for a debate, some are trying to put a little good in the world.

p.s. dont have the internet to take full part in a debate

looking for an excuse to post this

In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

At first I was like, "Yeah, ban it all!" Then I quickly realized that we should never put up rules over people's thoughts. That's crazy..

Education really is the way to go. Knowledge should eventually get rid of the religions of today. Might even give birth to new ones. Imagine a bible written today, that actually made sense and had some facts in it. Could be pretty cool!

It will inevitably happen, as with all civilizations to have ever existed, all religions rise and fall, to be replaced (or supplanted...oftentimes violently) by the new.

When will atheism become illegal?

When the US wants to lose every one of it's brightest thinkers.

You do realize being atheist doesn't automatically make you smart right? And that there are plenty of religious people who are very bright. Hell my sister is very religious and she's a year away from graduating with a phD in science. Personal beliefs don't affect overall intelligence.

What you said is basically the same as saying if Judaism became illegal we'd lose every good doctor, accountant, and lawyer. But being Jewish doesn't make you innately good at those things.

You do realize I didn't say it automatically made you smart, right?  However, some of the brightest thinkers in the country are indeed Atheist, or Agnostic.  Didn't read the rest of it, since it has no relevance to my statement.

You said "lose every one of its"  meaning you were proven wrong and instead of admitting it and apoglogizing you twist your words around

Yeah, as I said in a later post.  Keep reading, you'll get there eventually.

No, if us honest atheists start prosecuting religeous people we become no better than those that try to impose their will (and annoy me to no end, just go away) on us right now.
