No but it will increase revenue. Each $0.50 (max production cost when mass produced in china) Amiibo figure will bring around 5-10$ revenue when sold for 15-19$.

Assuming they release compelling software for them, yes. This isn't Field of Dreams, where if you make something people will flock to it. Granted, once the 100th monkey goes for it you have a runaway success, but you have to tempt, lure, entice the early adopters and then deliver with quality and depth. Super Smash Bros' implementation of Amiibos will not be enough to move WiiUs. It will certainly move the figurines themselves, but we'll need to see at least 3-4 titles using the collectibles in a MEANINGFUL way to really see the media and the consumer sway away from the PS4/XBoxOne hype.
Nah. I couldn't imagine someone getting a system so they could utilize some little toy. I'm sure they'll sell well though. I'll probably pick up a zero suit samus or a fire emblem character

I don't think Amiibo will increase the install base of Wii U, it could, however, help move more units of the most popular multiplayer titles. (such as Smash bros., Mario Kart, ...)
Lyrics: He He He He Ha Ha Ha!

I doubt many that don't already own the console would be enticed enough to buy a Wii U for these. After all the Skylanders and Disney Infinity have a lot more content and uses than the amiibos will.
So far from what they've said about the amiibos, they are not must haves for the games they are compatiable so only hardcore fans will be interested in purchasing them. And since they will probably go for $10 a pop, I doubt Skylanders has anything to worry about. In the end, Nintendo will make some money off these, but for anyone that likes the toys and games model already, it's doubtful they will spend $300 on the console, $60 for the game, and start buying up a bunch of these since it would go well over 400 just to get a basic set. I think people that like Skylanders and Infinity, will just stick with those because they are still supported and there are additional games and accessories coming out soon.
It's going to attract the attention of collectors that's for sure. Since these do just more than just look great on the shelf, I think it will slightly. Ninty just has to watch the pricing of it. I know for sure I will collect every single Amiibo that comes out. I just hope that there won't be any exclusive ones that only Japan gets, or something like that.

No it won't. The profits will come from the toys themselves which kids will buy in bulk.
Nope. People will not buy the Wii U to buy figurines for it. It has the potential to spread like a pest among all current owners though.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
I doubt people will buy Wii U's for figurines but Nintendo will surely make money from them.
