Ah okay so they were able to use revenue statements from just the "Xbox" division. Of course, as you mentioned, it's not necessarily a fair comparison.

I think it was just a revenue estimate since MS does not publish the numbers for the Xbox division alone in their public financials.

Thanks, that's important to note.

Yes it is, just compare with other companys.

Activision/Blizzard for example. Activision only has 5,6B as total current assets and only 4,2B as cash. Even less than Nintendo, despite Call of Duty, World of Warcraft and Skylanders success.

Cash alone means nothing, and stationary money = loss for the stock holder.

Did you miss the part where I said IMO?

This people, is the perfect example of "imo" being used in the most stupid way possible.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Hmm.

31st March 2010
Total assets - $17 billion
Cash - $8.7 billion

31st March 2011
Total assets - $16 billion
Cash - $8 billion

31st March 2012
Total assets - $13.5 billion
Cash - $4.6 billion

31st March 2013
Total assets - $14.3 billion
Cash - $4.7 billion

31st March 2014
Total assets - $12.9 billion
Cash - $4.7 billion

Nintendo has lost $4 billion of assets in 4 years.

31st March 2010 - 2013 figures can be found here ( http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/annual/index.html )
31st March 2014 here ( http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2014/convocation_notice1406e.pdf )

You mean they made an exclusive deal with Rockstar? Awesome.

Hey Skidonti, did you hear that they blew through $6 billion in just two years!?

They spent $6 billion of it in just 24 months. So many hookers, so much blow...

I think you missed the part where he politely (and subtly) told you your opinion has zero value.

Politely. And subtly.

Well someone's opinion may hold zero value, just like yours. I hope that was polite and subtle enough for you ,well maybe not subtle.

Why? because I don't think 4.7 billion is a lot of money for Nintendo?

Nobody on Earth would look at the financial ratios for Nintendo and try to make the case that they are in financial distress.  That's isn't a case anybody would make.

The case you would make is that if the Wii U is a product that continues to lose money, then Nintendo should consider cutting it.  Businesses cut failing sections of their overall business all the time.  If the Wii U isn't even recovering its variable costs, including game sales, then it ought to be considered being discontinued.  It's the Nintendo fanboys that don't understand business that would argue keeping a product around that causes a firm to take giant losses year after year just for the sake of nostalgia, stubbornness, or face.

Nintendo isn't going to "vanish", but produts that don't make money should be cut.  Trim the fat.

That doesn't sound good. I know they hired a bunch of people and bought a bunch of shares, but damn 4-5 billion down from what a few years ago?

They also built a new R&D building.

However, that only accounts for ~186 million dollars.  I believe they also spent ~150 million on an unknown acquisition perhaps relating to their quality of life platform they have been talking about.

Oh yea the builiding, but like you said that wasn't a ton all in all. Hopefully, whatever it is that they've invested in pays off soon. They could be looking at even more losses. That is of course assuming a lot of these losses were from investments.

$$$ Capcom
$$$ Crytek
