Will TLOU 2 continue the story of Joel and Ellie?

Yes 28 31.82%

No, just Ellie (older) 26 29.55%

No, neither 34 38.64%

Next LoU game could be a prequel with Joel. Between the death of his daughter and finding Ellie, there are twenty years of untold things.

It would be interesting to see how Joel and his brother got separated.

"I think the world is ripe for more stories, but as far as the journey Joel and Ellie goes on it ends with this game. We were very conscious that we didn’t want to leave this story dangling. If we never do a sequel we’re ok with it, because we told the story we needed to tell."

- Neil Druckmann

So I guess that they're going to tell a completely new story.

Cool, until the higher ups and money talked. Seriously, don't believe this nonsense. There is no way they are okay with not making another thus the whole thing can't be taken seriously.

All of that could be told in flashbacks for the sequel like they did with Uncharted. The sequel can start off exactly where the first left off. Seriously, no one thought it was "left dangling" since they never entered the town. They can easily make it start off there, them get to town and the place taken over by clickers or bandits

They could make a sequel for both being hunted forthe cure, or a prequel to show how Joel changed or Ellie struggling after discovering the only person she cares lied to keep her alive. So to her feeling of being left alone would work on leaving someone alone, the guilty for being egoistical on keeping her life and damming humans. There is a lot that could be done, but it won't be a simple continuation.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Maybe it will continue, but that definitely not what ND was going for with that ending, if it continues it'll be because of the success

I also thought the ending was pure genius btw 10/10

also how could marlene be alive? she got shot in the face? lol

Some think the game should end right there. The game is a masterpiece and it doesn't need a sequel. That said, Sony would be foolish to turn away all that free money. I think it would be Ellie centered, perhaps as an adult.

P.S. - Just wanna say that I never liked the rationale at the end. It's like destroying the cure for cancer because you can't sacrifice one person.........that isn't your daughter......which the person volunteered for in the first place. Sorry guess I'm a "greater good" kind of guy. If it was my kid then that's a moral issue but he let his personal demons get in the way of the world getting better............and killed a lot of people with the best of intentions.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

It could have been that Ellie chose to be used for the cure and she knew that she was going to die. They never showed what happened before Joel went after her in the hospital. It could have been a test she did when she asked him at the end to see if he would lie to her.

As much as I want a sequel, I just don't see how it could possible live up to the story of the first one. I think they should just leave it at where it ended and go with another story of someone else. If they do another Ellie story and mess it up I will not forgive them lol.

I say they will do what Left for dead 2 did. New people. But they then interacted with game ones cast. Later in the game.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Looking back at it, it was a really powerful ending. All my friends hated it, but I loved it.

How can he argue that the firefly isnt dead? She gets shot in the stomach and then in the head. If she were still alive she would be a vegetable and even that is not plausible since moments earlier you had the option to kill the doctors. How would naughty dog even be able to explain this if they were to go that route.. The only possible reason i see is that years later ellie fidns proof that joel lied and ventures out on her own journey. Or maybe he passes away and she doesnt feel an obligation to stay anylonger. In the end i would like for an entirely new cast set maybe 3-5 years after the outbreak to see how things like quarantine zones where created. Some remnants of government still trying to fight back and in general you going through a deterioating situation with cities falling. Retreats to other places or the likes. Since it is clearly a worldwide outbreak i would also at least have some perspective on how things went down elsewhere. In the end i would really like a world war z or dawn of the dead kind of feel. There is something about that moment where things go worse and worse in disease themed media that is so damn intriguing
