I find Hideo Kojima to be highly overrated.

WOW. Very bold statement.

I actually like his view on creating games. Zone Of The Enders was almost perfect.

Miyamoto is number one, easily. Then Hironobu Saka

Indeed, Miyamoto is a genius, but to many gamers around the world, FF & MGS stand as superior titles over Mario.

I'm just saying.

And to many other gamers, I'd dare say a far larger number, the reverse is true. :)

Besides, Miyamoto has a far wider portfolio than the Gooch or Kojima.

He's also far better known in the mainstream media than Hironobo or Hideo.

1. Yu Suzuki (Shenmue)
2. Shigero Miyamoto (Super Mario World)
3. Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid 3)

What? no Suzuki option?........... ok, Miyamoto gets my vote then. (for both biggest influence, and best game AFTER Shenmue )

They all suck equally but that's just my opinion ...

Welcome back to The Rating Game.

We  gamers are a special breed, we play games.

Good games, bad games, short games, 100 hr games, We live for them, we breath gaming, we even fight for our spot in line at the launch of a new console. It's in our blood as they say.

But what about the people that are in charge of creating those games. The masterminds, the creators, the visionaries.

Do we thank them enough ? Maybe not. But one thing we do, and we do it allot,  is judge their creations.

Today we'll take a look at 3 of the great minds of gaming.

Hironobu Sakaguchi - Worked on classics such as Final Fantasy/ Chrono Trigger & Xenogears.

Shigeru Miyamoto - The mind behind some greats such as Super Mario Galaxy/ Donkey Kong & The Legend Of Zelda.

Hideo Kojima - We thank him for such hits as Policenauts/ Metal Gear Solid & Zone Of The Eders.

As you well know, this The Rating Game, so this is a 2 part question.

(1) Which of these 3 minds in YOUR OPINION has had the BIGGEST influence on the gaming industry ?

(2) If you had to choose just 1 game from just 1 of these  creators, the 1 game that changed your life as a gamer (if any) WHAT game would it be ?

The Rating Game............... Go ahead, Rate.

You need to add Kazunori Yamauchi from the GT Series.. He is a genius on his own level with the world's #1 racing simulator.. What about Yu Suzuki Sega's greatest prize?

For me the answer is really simple. Miyamoto. There's no contest as this man is a true legend when we talk about video games. He is, for me, Mr. Nintendo.

Hideo Kojima is also one of my very favourites of course. If not Miyamoto was on this list I might have voted on him for sure.

It's a shame that this websites doesn't allow multiple votes. That way people could vote their top three out of a list of say 10(poll limit?) persons.

Honestly, I think all three men are among the top five game makers of all time, maybe even the top three.

That being said, I believe this has to go to Miyamoto. It would be difficult to overestimate the huge effect games like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario 64 had on the industry and on the imaginations of consumers and developers. Kojima, for example, has gushed over Super Mario Bros. on several occasions.

So my pick is Miyamoto and his magnum opus Ocarina of Time.

You can't go wrong with any of these three candidates, though. They're all legends.

Misread the 1st question, thought it was who influenced ME most. I think the answer's obvious really.

The answer to the 2nd question still stands though. So:

1. Miyamoto

2. Metal Gear Solid
