There are way bigger reasons than Japanese support to not invest in a gaming PC.

Subpar graphics, subpar performance, or less of a choice in control methods?

Aside from the Wii U, I predict the 8th gen to be the most mundane one so far. I intend to move most of my multiplat choices to PC ASAP.

Already mentioned some before, no need need to continue on about it. I built my gaming PC 2 years ago and ended up regretting it. Mostly just used it for MMOs.

That's just your usage, I'm afraid.

Objectively, there are more pros than cons.

Have you considered getting a Vita or 3DS? I know Vita is known for the amount of obscure japanese games (JRPGs probably being one of them) it gets, while 3DS has Bravely Default, Fire Emblem (if you're interested in Strategy JRPGs) and about to get Persona Q.

... Ever considered getting either and playing exclusively at home? xD I'm 18 and have a 3DS, and I have to say that I felt quite at home in public as I waited for Mario Kart 8 in a line at Nintendo World with only adults mostly older than me playing 3DS's as well. I do live in NYC though, so possibly the atmosphere is different all things considered?

Current Consoles: Gaming PC, Wii U, 3DS

PC is where the WRPGs and MMORPGs flourish. If you're into JRPGs, you should stick with PlayStation.

I actually agree with you regarding MMOs. They do seem to be lacking a major *something* that makes it feel like they aren't real games at all. :

Not really. There is a lot of pros and cons for both sides.

That's just silly.

PC is home to cRPGs, not JRPGs, so you complaining about lack of them on PC would be similar to me complaining about the lack of P&C Adventure games (which are my favorite genre) on consoles.

Silly, very silly indeed.

I get ya, OP. In fact, IMO, the biggest reason to own a console is the presence of JRPG's and other Japanese games. With consoles becoming diluted PC's, and Japanese support rapidly shifting to mobile, it's all the more reason to invest in a nice PC instead.

like...? too expensive? you went and bought a PS4, and complain that PCs don't have what you want despite playing their alternatives on a console? whaaa?

During last gen I had both handhelds and a laptop at all times besides me, one that could actually run all games. Its the same for me this gen, I only need a 3DS to fill the gap Try out this combo, it might be for you

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

"I always thought the reason it was disappointing was because of DRM, getting games later or not at all, bad optimized ports, and troubleshooting why a game doesn't work the way it's supposed to on my PC. Could have picked a lot better reasons than lack of JRPGS." Already answered some of the questions.

I know this is my personal preference, but my god where the fuck are the JRPGS? Like there's not much of them and most MMO''s suck ass and the indies are just okay. Seeing as JRPGS are my favoritneThee only recenty JRPG game I found that wass 3D and had a decent budget for PC was The Last Remnant and that game was just "okay".

I know I can just emulate a lot of games but man it's not even worth the effort most of the time. If PC had more JRPG's I'd honestly love the hell out of PC gaming but until then I'll just be a console gamer. Shame because I love the PC's openess, mods and messing around with graphical settings.

Luckily, I don't particularly care for JRPGs, but I know what you're talking about. Luckily I love almost every genre, except for sports. The reason there are so few JRPGs though is because Japan doesn't develope for the PC nearly as much as western devs do. Japan could stand to gain a lot though if they started making games for the PC more often.

DRM is really a non-issue. no different from PS4 or a Xbox. You can play your games offline and when you want to play online, you connect through steam, origin, or uplay.

Yes, you're right. we do get games later, but we also have games that never show up on consoles. goes both ways.

there are some badly optimized ports, yes, but there's nothing better than running a game at its full potential ala Sleeping Dogs, Deus Ex, or Tomb Raider. It's a poorly optimizied port that still runs better than its console counterparts

I really don't understand why you'd invest in a powerful PC capable of so much and only use it for MMOs. Your decision to not explore what's available.
