He didnt say to expect less AAAs and he didnt mention first parties either hes talking about AAAs in general and he is right they are getting less frequent and way more expensive.

Yes but he said that the number of AAAs is getting smaller.

Ye they are we dont need Yoshida to tell us that, they already did in last gem now theyre even less common.

Yeah, so he is kinda hinting that there will be fewer AAA games for the PS4.

You are just twisting his words. He is talking in general for the industry as a whole. No company is immune to the high cost of AAA development these days.

Look just focusing on the present and goind forward, Sony is done with the PS3, except MLB and whatever japanese 3rd party games make their way. MS is supporting their console in its 9th year. You are questioning 360 support in its 10th year? Damn you realize how late that is? Like GOW2 released in PS2's 7th year...nevermind 10. Just think you are reeaaally playing down 360's longevity and 9th year support.

When have sony's ever been done with their console the moment a new one comes out?  sure, they'll focus their studios more to the new console, but they just dont go abandoning the community on the last gen either.  it's still selling, and will continue to sell.  Hell, the ps2 sold all the way up to 2010.. games were still coming out for it up that point.  See, what you fail to realize is.. the support never stops.  it's not like MS where.. "oh, it's 10 years now... no more games!" and abandon your community.. 1st party or not, games are still coming out for the ps3, and will continue to do so.  there's a reason why Sony has a much more loyal following..  longevity isn't played out in years.. it's the community and how well it thrives depends on the support they get. might not all be 1st party.. but it's games/even exclusives none the less.  it's no wonder why so many previous xbox gamers are making the next gen switch to ps4..

Thought this was about 1st party support, not merely selling. Because 360 is older and still selling. PS2 got 3rd party support until 2010, unless you count MLB, the Madden of baseball games for 1st party. 360 will get 3rd party support too so no worries about that.

You realize even making it to 10 years is a VERY rare thing to do, especially when there isn't the PS name attached to the console. Talking that down is very laughable. Gamers making the switch has more to do with pricing, now cancelled polocies of last E3, and geographical brand power. Because if it was about releasing more exclusives (that don't necessarily sell), then PS3 should have taken 2nd years ago......

They way I see it, Sonys last REAL support for PS3 was in 2013, PS3's 7th year. 360's seems to be this year, its 9th. That's 2 years gap buddy. And if Project Spark makes it to 2015 on 360, that's 1st party support after 10 years, but hey, im sure your dying to rebuy MLB for PS3 every year going forward right?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I knew it, with the increased cost of AAA games developers will make more games for the Wii U!!!!!
.... or just make A to AA games instead on every console......

MS is supporting the 360 because they have to. If given a choice we already know they would drop it in a heartbeat (Xbox). PS3 will have exclusive Japanese support cause Sony is focusing its game development on the PS4 to avoid what happened with the PS2 and PS3.

You can't convinetly count 1st party support just because MS is in the position that they have to, else be in the same position at as the Wii U in having its games limited by marketshare.

But if you want to do that, PS3 is supported by PSNOW, PS+, and has multiple FTPs like Dust and DCUO, as well as MMOs like FFXIV:ARR. If you want to claim that 360 has more first party support then your simply ignorant of what is on the PS3. Not to mention it has vastly more 3rd party support.

EDIT: In fact TitanFall is 3RD party will PSNOW and PS+ are Sony services and DCUO is SOE. Really, it looks like it has more 1st party support too. Not to mention there is no way EA would be paid enough to make up the 360s marketshare with that paltry 4.5 mill userbase {scoff}

Just want to interject that MS is supporting the 360 becuase its profitable to do so, not because they have to.You are more rational (and exhausting to debate with lol), but this guy has the nerve to say 360 has nothing this year and being out for 9 years isn't anything noteworthy.

What do you think have to means? 360 is way too successful to abandon and push people towards the One. I can't say the One is less important to them cause I don't that but with the price of some AAAs going exclusive is insane. Only in house devs are will be smart enough to balance that budget so they can be profitable on the system they are exclusives. Look at Turn 10 vs Crytek, and even Forza Horizon 2 is going 360 as well.

Funny how threatened and defensive a lot people (particularly sony fans) are towards this statement. No Mans Land really pushed the point that you don't have to be AAA to blow peoples minds. Hopefully we start seeing more AA titles like the ps2/ps1.

Fewer AAA really isn't a bad thing and I think he simply means development is going to be more drawn out so instead of 6 AAA 1st party exclusives a year, we're more likely to see 4.

2014-
Infamous,
Driveclub,
LittleBigPlanet 3

2015-
The Order 1886,
Media molecule,
uncharted 4
Bloodborne ( which is somewhere between AA and AAA IMO...)

2016:
Bend studios,
Guerilla games RPG,
GT7,
Naughty Dog new IP.....

note: not all games with nice graphics are AAA.

lol.. 9-10 years out, but support mainly for 7 years.. dude, it's okay..  talk about rationality.  i've yet to hear anything from you that doesn't somehow stealthly attempt to troll Sony, the PS3 or the Ps4.  fact is.. in the end, and since the beginning, ps gamers will be well supported beyond the 360's longevity because Sony doesn't abandon their gamers.  PS1 to 2 to 3.  What makes you think anything will change?  as for the xbox though, we know what happened to the OG xbox as soon as the 360 came out (very reason I didn't continue to the 360).  and it's eerily similar seeing what's happening to the 360 since the x1.  even with MS's short history, they've already developed that reputation for themselves..

And yes, MS has to support the 360 because they have to.  X1 at the moment isn't picking up enough sales to make it profitable..
