MK8 sold 1.2m with the Sunday which many seem to discount (NPD and Europe do not include Sundays). I doubt it's shipped numbers

Its overtracked by a lot more than that considering VGC doesn't track digital. It also would be a lot worse if 1.2m is shipped as that argument has taken a second wind since NPD

The 1.2 million included a day not counted by NPD as well as digital sales only known to Nintendo. The NPD numbers still made it possible for sold, we can't really tell for sure without Europe so I'm not sure who made the decision after seeing NPD numbers, which were only like 35K less than VGC numbers, if I recall.

I still don't see how NPD gave it a second wind...

The shock of it being OT by 100k in US alone. But it's irrelevant to the OP as it's OT by a decent amount if it was sold through anyway.

OP has a point. MK8 could be as much as 300k overtracked.

Assuming the 1.2m is shipped+digital, then we are looking at approximately 800k retail and 100k digital.

Assuming the 1.2 is sold (retail+digital), then we are looking at 1.0m-1.1m retail and 100k-200k digital. However, VG didn't count last day of the weekend, and still VG puts it at 1.1m+ for retail. Also, note NPD didn't count last day either. In this case MK8 is overtracked by about 100k.

Considering it's a major title, and if it's the former, then it should be adjusted quickly. If not, then nothing to really fuss about. VG's error margin is fairly acceptable, imo.

If somebody has an issue with this thread, they need to EXPLAIN WHY before they lock it. This is an across-the-board rule, unless it's obvious that they want it shut down with a "please delete" or something.

So it shall be restored until somebody can present a reason.

It's an interesting point Max. Hopefully it'll be sorted out soon or clarified by Nintendo in financials.
