Forums - Gaming - Bold Prediction : Microsoft will offer huge bundle deals this holiday season and XB1 will hit $349 or less

Not really a bold prediction. Bundles like that normally happen during the holidays. You'll find similar deals for PS4 and Wii U.

We won't see a $349 PS4 with a new AAA title, that's for sure.

The U though is a little older, so I wouldn't be shocked to see an official $50 price cut + a great pack-in game, which would be a fantastic move imho.

This is a horrible analogy.

I gave an example, quick price cuts increased demand of PS3 and 3DS. In the long run, any negavitve message ultimately didn't matter. Increasing demand and being more competitive is the goal.

A single one sure the + out weight the - .

X1 went through unofficial cut and free game, kinex less sku cut and this would be a 3rd time there is a "cut" and i use the term loosly.  In addition of all the flip flops on what the x1 is.  X1 screams soon to eb failed product.  Product getting cheaper is great, doing it to fast tells the consumer it will have a short life span.  There are multiple ways to see things, but one of them always is no good deed goes unpunished.  At the end of the day Xbox one is a misfired product that failed to achive sales based on what it was designed to do and now is forced into something that its competitor is far better at.

Yeah... yeah...

The PS3 was an even bigger misfire in many ways and allowed Xbox to become a major competitor. But thanks to software bundlings (my PS3 came with GoW3 and Uncharted 2), numerous price cuts (I got mine for $250), and noteworthy software the PS3 managed to stay relevant for many years.

Sersiouly, look to the past before predicting the future. The X1 isn't a lost cause yet. It all depends on Xbox does to redeem itself.

The PS3 stayed relevent based on the global strength of the PS brand name. The Xbox has no such thing and is reliant entirely on NA and to a lesser extent, the UK

$50 price drop is fairly normal for a 1 year old platform to be honest.

It would be a $150 price drop.

Good job... missing the point entirely.

Sony made changes necessary to keep the PS3 competitive. They lost billions of dollars in the process as well. There were massive price cuts and many games bundled. In the end, many jumped to Xbox but Playstation releavant.

The X1 is doing okay but in danger of losing market share. Now like Sony with PS3, MS needs to be competitive.

Reality, xbox brand is not PS.

MS lacks every single advantage PS3 had to make that kind of turnaround.  PS3 biggest fault was a year late start and its easy to see if you align launches and it clearly beats the 360.  Whiel X1 which dropped same week as PS4 has been getting embarrassed sales wise.  X1 is already going through the door to being irrelevent, and the half dozen flip flops and changes major pushes havent helped one bit.

Any X1 potential recovery based of PS3/360 gen is all hopes and dreams and in no way rooted in reality.

Nope, PS3's biggest fault was price. That's what allowed Xbox to become a serious competitor. If PS3 launched at $399, it would have crushed the competition.

Presuming MS the right moves, the X1 is going to stay as releavant as the 360 or PS3. They just need to sell about 75 million more units to do that!

Both are big but its the lead that hurt it the most, always faciing uphill battle.

And it has snowballs chance in hell of selling that 75m.

Funny how when Sony announces bundles it's smart marketing, but when M$ does the same it's an act of desperation. And when Sony announces special deals with 3rd parties like early betas and exclusive bundles of certain games it's good developer relations, but when M$ does it it's "moneyhatting."

Its all moneyhatting, but theres a huge difference in a PS4 bundle where you save 10 on the game and MS giving away a brand new aaa game where we all know its due to desperation.

So when Sony bundled MGS4 in their original $499 80GB SKU when the game launched, that wasn't an act of desperation?

Not sure where you were but when the PS3 had price cuts, a lot of people called out that Sony were desperate. They were!

You can't deny that unbundling Kinect and packaging big games for free is a sign of desperation. The sales figures prove that the X1 is struggling.

We'll see, just depends on what MS does.

MS is in financially better position so they can take risks if they want.
