They're not be stupid per se. They just want to be successful in a way that does not necessarily involve selling the most games.

When you consider these sales is it really surprising? WiiU Sku sold the least and would be more difficult/time consuming than an easy Wii port at this point.

They can also do an easy Wii U port, they did release FIFA 13 for the console so they can also re-skin the players, update the rooster and mark it as a legacy edition and charge full price for it, like they do on the Wii and 3DS, but that would help the console so is a no-no for them.

EA wants to make themselves look good by supporting the original Wii... but of course EA is still butthurt about Nintendo not using Origin. If origin was the network infrastructure every single EA game would have hit the Wii U full damn force.
