Uncharted 4 will easily be the best looking game upon release. It is going to take another 2 - 3 years before we start to see PC games matching the level of graphics we saw in this Uncharted footage. Once multi-platform titles are all let loose of the constraints of 360/PS3 PC will be able to shine, but until then PS4 and XBO exclusives are going to hold up quite well against PC multiplats.

Of course PC will always have the advantage in AA, resolution, and framerate, but it takes more than that now to make a pretty game. Proper shading, lighting, physics, collision detection, animation, attention to detail, deformation, and so much more are what sets games apart. In many of those departments Sony Santa Monica and Naughty Dog have been way ahead of the game for years.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

The reason UC1 looks so bad is cos the PS3 was incredibly hard to code for and they weren't able to fully tap the PS3's power.

PS4 by contrast is famously easy to program for.

Thats not true, UC1 came out a year after the ps3 launch, sametime as amount of time the gears of war came out on 360 and guess what UC1 looks much better, it wasn't even close because of the great lighting UC1 compared to gears of war.

UC1 looks unimpressive compared to later PS3 games, because the system was so hard to program for.

PS4 doesn't have this problem.

Yeah, but guess what? Only a few people will experience that huge optimization and people on consoles will mostly enjoy it equally and respond to a similar type of material. Nothing is created equal in the PC realm which is why peoples answers cannot be gauged accurately. Sure, its higher than consoles, but in the end...what does that amount to if only a small amount of people get to enjoy the full power? Sorry. I'll take the console version and the console exclusives to boot which will grace us with more well tailored games suited exclusively for our consoles. The graphics will be beautiful, the effort will be honorable and everyone can enjoy the game in unison and say "hey, this game is amazing". Nintendos games have beautiful art style and look how they are taking advantage of last gen graphics. Only Nintendo can do that so well and that sealed my Wii U purchase next year for sure.

Fair points, but I thought the question was simply whether it would be the best looking game ever on release?

you can say the samething for 360 games, even though 360 was easy to develope for, early 360 games like gears of war don't look impressive compared to later ones.

The situation was different on 360, as when it came out the framework and tools for making HD level games wasn't in place for most devs.

PS3 improved much more from 2007-present than 360 did.

I think they both improved the same, its just sony has better devs, but games like gears of war 3 and halo 4 were pretty close to sony best looking games. i think third part's suffered from the ps3 hard to program hardware.

Indeed they did, but even Naughty Dog and the like had trouble wrapping their heads around the Cell at first.

Uncharted 1 used only 30% of the PS3's SPUs. (http://www.edge-online.com/features/uncharted-2-uncovered/3/)

I very much doubt UC4 uses that little of PS4's chipset, given how much of a breeze it is said to be to program for.

As such UC1-UC4 isn't really a fair comparison of the two consoles.

yea i have a hard time believing that these type graphics will be 1080p/60fps, those graphics just look too good.

Taking into consideration that PC's have been putting out better looking or equal quality looking games for many years on high settings, anyone with half a brain in their head will have to say no, it will not be the best looking game ever made. Nice try though.

What PC games are you talking about? ...and for many years?!

Every triple A game on max settings on PC looks and works MASSIVELY better than on PS360, and for many years means 2006 onwards. And emphasis on 'works' because once you've experienced no loading times, no screen tearing, 60+ FPS, true 1080p etc. you will never want to go back to 20+ second loading times etc. I still game on consoles for the exclusives tho and because PS2 IS KING.

Do I know I'm looking at a game? Yes.

So it is not going to be the best looking game of all time.
