Forums - Nintendo - I just finished my first Zelda (WWHD)

When I bought my Wii U a few months ago, it came bundled with ZWWHD. I wasn't going to play it but then the VGC member spemanig demanded that I gave it a go. So I did.

First, I always thought that Zelda & Metroid are two Nintendo IP's that are so overhyped IMO. I never understood what is so amazing about them. I tried Metroid Prime 3 back in 2008 because (again) it was recommended by a VGC member. (Forget who) It was boring, hard, and annoying. Never again will I buy another Metroid game...

As for Zelda? It was surprisingly satisfying. While I believe Nintendo does have multiple IP's that are better, it's pretty good. (At least Windwaker) I enjoyed the story, and the characters. The gameplay was a bit lacking though. (!!!) It was fun but nothing special. There were too many things that I had to do that felt...unneeded. (Example: Find random squid to get more energy or you're doomed)

Overall, I'm now a (casual) Zelda fan and will likely buy Zelda U once it's released. Thanks spemanig!

That makes me very sad...at least play Super Metroid ;~;

Glad you like Zelda though ^.^ They are all interesting and different so I suggest trying they all out when you get a chance :D

Yeah, that issue with randomness is only in WW imo, so don't worry about that.

My favorite Zelda games are (from best to "worst"):

Twilight Princess
A Link between Worlds
Ocarina of Time
Wind Waker HD
Skyward Sword

Keep in mind that is all the Zelda games I played. I liked them all except Skyward Sword!

That's why you should always play A Link to the Past and nothing else. It's the definitive Zelda experience.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'm really happy that you enjoyed it! It's personally my favorite game of all time lol but almost every game has it's flaws. I'm so glad it got you more into the Zelda franchise, though! Did you like the combat? That's really my favorite part of it because I feel like it's really kinesthetically satisfying. It just feels good to me.

Why metroid prime 3 ? its the worst metroid game!

start with the original on the GC.

Nah, Other M is the worst metroid game (and I liked the game), and even in the Prime series Prime II is worse than Prime III (especially for the reasons the OP gave for disliking Prime 3.)  Honestly if the OP didn't like Prime 3 for these reasons " boring, hard, and annoying" then I'm certain the OP wouldn't like the first two which were harder games with far less direction and accessibility. Having said that, the OP definitely should try 2D metroids before giving up on the series entirely, they are as different from the Metroid Prime series as 2D Mario is from 3D Mario.

try metroid zero mission.

it is very good, and is faster and easier than metroid prime and super.

If he thought MP3 was too hard (which I found incredibly easy, only the final boss is any hard on hypermode), he's going to cry when playing MP2. That game was a real challenge, loved it.

OP played one of the crummiest Metroid games and decided never to try the series again...
But was impressed by one of the crummier Zelda games...
At least try Super Metroid and Metroid Prime before you completely dismiss the series...

Have a nice day...
