Forums - Nintendo - I like that EAD Tokyo is doing something low key (Captain Toad)

I agree, it's a welcoming surprise.

You would think they heard the fans with this game, Captain Toad's levels in 3D World were very well received. To me personally as well, they were awesome fun and it's great they build further on the concept! Also, by now, Toad deserves his own spin-off game I think.

I do think though that the game's just a side-project and EAD Tokyo is probably also working on something else, something big, surely Toad wouldn't need the entire strength of the studio?

It does look awesome. Also, it shows that Nintendo listens to their fans (as the entire conference showed). People demanded a whole Captain Toad game, and they get one. Who can complain about that?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I've heard some people rant that it should be $20 DLC and not a separate retail game.

Maybe EAD Tokyo saw my Miiverse post I wrote right after 3D World released :3

Well I don't think it should be full price...but it shouldn't be DLC either.

This is a $60 game?

dont think so, it looks more like 30 or 40$

BTW Kirby and the Rainbow Curse was also announced yesterday. Isn't that low key?

Yeah it's awesome to see EAD doing this kind of stuff as well :D Although, like others already have said, I think that there's only a small team behind this effort; all they had to do was designing the courses.

But I'm not sure I'd buy this as a separate game though. Now I haven't actually played SM3DW, so I don't know how good these sections are, but they do look like fun! Just not $60 fun. Maybe $40. I also think this would have been a great DLC for SM3DW!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

The Toad levels were actually one of my favorite parts of 3D World, so I'm pumped about this release. And I do like it that EAD Tokyo is working on a fun little project that's all about creative gameplay, freeing them from the demands of 3D Mario development.

Tokyo has a couple of smaller teams in addition to the main 3D Mario team, and they are always expanding, so this doesn't hinder the main group. Whoever is doing Captain Toad can also just use the existing engine and models, and just have fun with it. I love it! One of many great surprises from yesterday.
