He should take a step back and just do a few things here and there instead of retire. Should definitely let someone else be the top developer guy now though.

That is what he has been doing already. He stopped being a major part in Zelda games before Skyward sword was released.

Which leads to the question, why aren't any of Nintendos other developers stepping up and being the main man then?

To my understanding its not like Nintendo is made of many smaller dev teams. Just the main one that does all the games. Apart from Zelda's Aonuma, and Smash's Sakurai.

I understand what you are saying, but that has been a fault of Nintendo for years. Previously they themselves only liked to work on their games. That has changed since then with games like Metroid Other M, Hyrule Warriors, etc. Even so I have been wishing Nintendo would expand with more workers for about 5 years now.

I think it's obvious Nintendo's line ups and strategy cannot be Miyamoto centered as 15 years ago. They don't seem to get it, somehow.

Should be parts of a compilation, that's the impression i'm getting.

I'm just hoping StarFox isn't "also" just a compilation game.

Miyamoto has said that they're considering an episodic-kind of release of the new Star Fox game, which wouldn't really bother me all that much. Star Fox 64 can be finished within an hour, so I think Episodes would suit that game just fine. I would like to see an evolution of Star Fox though, something a little bit new and different. On rails shooters aren't all that funny imo.

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

so glad i didnt expect anything. because nothing is what I got.

I think both Robots and Guard are good starting places for games! Nintendo could either evolve both games into full fletched releases or make some sort of NintendoLand minigame out of them. Just... Change the looks of Giant Robots :P That shit does not look good!

These are prototypes that Miyamoto wouldn't normally reveal this early, and will likely figure into whatever Nintendo's plans are for Star Fox. Project Guard has gotten some very positive write ups, despite being an experimental prototype.

Ah, the joy of knee jerk reactions at E3. Given Miyamoto's most recent projects were the excellent Luigi's Mansion 2 and Pikmin 3, I'm happy for him to keep working.

Giant robo and project guard were two of the worst games shown at e3, and what little they've revealed about star fox doesn't leave me feeling optimistic. Project guard looks to be the better of the bunch but at the same time nothing special, there's just too many tower defense games out in the wild right now and nothing about it seems unique or particularly interesting. Giant robo, I mean it looks like the only way you could extract fun from that demo were if you were one drink away from alcohol poisoning and had recently suffered major head trauma, just horrendous, probably worst in show and reminded me of the sony sixaxis garbage of years past; worse it seems star fox may be following in the same vein by controlling the ship by maneuvering the gamepad.

Whether Miyamoto should retire or not I don't care, it's up to him. These games seem to have been designed to be five to ten dollar virtual console games or part of some offbeat collection, which is all right I guess.

well they are eshop titles.

and also he is making STARFOX STEALTH soo...yeah.

Project Guard looks boring as hell. I haven't seen the Giant Robot thing, however.

Still, the man is making Star Fox and is also incremental in many of the developments going on in EAD. He has a lot on his plate. (You know, he is the General Division Manager of EAD or something.)

He still makes good games, just not good new IPs all the time. His last new IP was the Wii series which was revolutionary for the industry, even though many "gamers" tend to not like it. I say, if anything, Nintendo should just tell him to stop with his own projects. He can continue on in Nintendo as the GDM, but that's all.
