Forums - Nintendo - X just got a massive downgrade graphically speaking

Since I haven't played XX myself, I can't argue with that because it's just like you said, PS360 have weaker specs by default. But I know how good DD is from the beggining to end and how detailed it can be (very btw). I'll compare both whenever I get XX, because I still plan on getting a wiiu just to play this, despite the graphics being downgraded.

That why I'm satisfied with the Wii U graphically; PS3/360 can already do beautiful games, so a system that outperforms them, even if not hugely, is fine.

again with this? it was already discussed and proved to death that wii u is far more capable than ps360 in every aspect. no point in discussing this here.

Nothing has been proved. Nothing has been agreed. Child of Light is a purely GPU limited game and its locked to 720p just like the 7th gen twins.. 2D sidescrollers like Bit.Trip Runner 2 have trivial enhancement over 7th gen versions (DOF, still 720p30). If that doesnt send a message then I dont know what will.

Mario Kart 8 made things worse cause Forza 4 pulls the rug from right under it. You can argue about karts and ferraris all day long but a racer is a racer and the 360 pulls its own weight with 4XMSAA and anistrophic filtering to boot.

I suspect no one will agree about the WiiUs capabilities till this gen is over. I consider it a tiny increment, If the XBox 360 was a GameCube the Wii U would be a Wii.

Again Forza Horizon 2 on the 360 vs Project CARS on the WiiU will be fun. I cant wait for that face-off.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Is the 9800GT several GPU gens older and DX9 level in terms of features?

9800GT goes as far as DX10.1 officially. The XBox 360 has a superset of Direct x9.0c, a mythical Direct X9.0d if you will. Some direct X 11 features can run on DX10 level hardware but its not as fast as native DX11 hardware.

DX9 to DX10/11 is a bigger step than DX10 to DX11 though. What about GPU gens, how many between 9800GT and a 5550 HD?

bolded: except formario kart 8, mario 3d world, pikmin 3, nintendoland, bayonetta 2, Xenoblade, ZELDA. .. even hyrule warriors, wich is a mix with DW, a series with really bad graphics.

bolded 2: I can argue that mario kart 8 does much more and much better.

I'm guessing you either came straight from wii or you are a high end pc gamer so all consoles look the same. Otherwise, I can't understand how you could possibly see it as something that legitimately competes with PS4/X1. We'll have to wait for nextgen Elder Scrolls, which I can assure you will not be on Wii U, to get a decent comparison, I guess.

* Edit - This is a response to Zero999's response of my last post.

he's either blind or smoking that good stuff. Honestly anybody who thought it could compete with an Infamous was or still is a fool

I agree. I was shocked by those textures tbh.

One

Nvidia 700 = AMD 200X

Nvidia 600 = AMD 7000 - PS4/X1 [upper mainstream/lower mainstream at the time]

Nvidia 500 = AMD 6000

Nvidia 300/400 = AMD 5000 - Wii U [entry level at the time]

Nvidia 9000/200 == AMD 4000

Nvidia 8000 = AMD 3000

Nvidia 7000 = AMD 2000 - X360/PS3  [high end at the time].

That said generations arent as important as the GPUs market segment. A high end card from 2-3 generations ago can probably beat or match an entry level card from the current generation. According to Toms Hardware GPU heirarchy chart an AMD 5550HD (entry level by todays standard, not far from Intel integrated GPUs) is barely more powerful than an AMD X1950(360, top end at the time) despite it being 4 generations ahead in theory. From that context saying the WiiUs GPU is several generations ahead doesnt amount to much in the real world.

It's not just the generations gap though, it's also DX10/11 vs DX9.

The people complaining have one thing in common: they haven't seen the gameplay from the Treehouse.

Look, obviously this game isn't going to look as good as PS4 or XBONE games, but it is by no stretch of imagination an ugly game. I had several wow moments in the half hour of gameplay shown. The character models do look mediocre though! But the enemies/monster design is top notch!
