Forums - Nintendo - Ubisoft has a finished Wii U game that it won't release until the console sells more

It's probably something lame like a Rabbids party game or worse a Petz type thing. He mentions it's a "family" title, so it's not going to be Zombi U-2 or something.

but what if that game makes it sell more? isn't that what happens on other consoles and 3rd party game Ubi?

Ubi y U be stupid?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

After Ubi's display on E3 I really wanna say something crude like:

"This is gonna be a game like Rabbids or Just Dance... I don't get why Nontendo fans buy consoles for them."

Seriously though Ubi is looking like Nintendo of the 2006-2012 era.

"We have a game that has been done for six months; it is on our shelf waiting until more families to have the machine."

Stay classy Ubi.

At first glance this seems ridiculous, "why wouldn't you just release it and make money?"

But I would bet that it has to do with advertising. If you are going to spend money on advertising don't waste it when you aren't going to make a lot of sales. They want to align that budget with a larger install base.

The game's been finished for 6 months now and hasn't sold a single copy. That's all the proof they need to completely pull support.

what

Probably using the time to make PS4/Xbone ports of this game.

Its waiting on mass market "families". This is not a game I want. Its likely another meh title.

This was my first thought.

My second thought was, "Ubisoft, you're doing it wrong."  If they are so concerned about the install base of the WiiU, then support it with...games!  But likely, my first thought kicks back in and says that whatever crapfest they booted up for Nintendo's "family" console wouldn't move units anyway.

The WiiU is not a family console.  The WiiU is a stroghold of Nintendo fans waiting for Nintendo to deliver each new iteration of their classic franchises.  The Wii was the family console; there's no denying that.  Right now the image of the WiiU hasn't even been decided.

This makes absolute sense. Why would releasing this game possibly help Wii U sales in anyway? It's not like that is what every other third party is doing; waiting for the Wii U to sell more.

It is surely a smaller budget touch screen based game. It's cool that they are keeping an open mind to future releases, but it would be nice if they would just continue to port their regular core gamer AAA content.
