Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 360 hits 84 Million WW. Lifetime Game Sales $37.7 Billion

Crazy. Good job 360!

Some renumbering is in order I think. Be nice if Sony officially announces numbers as well.

No, that chart hasn't been updated for a while. These are the actual predictions:

Ooh, thanks Conina! Strange though, because this weeks sales page actually has this -

Global Hardware by Platform

PlatformWeekly (change)Total

X360 26,078 (+5%) 80,829,007

because 3.2 million on shelves is nonsense

Yeah you're right. Especially since the game platforms page has a completely different number and even with that said and done 2.6 million on store shelves is quite a lot. Realistically speaking it's probably a lot less but how much less nobody knows, but who knows it could be either way.

Meanwhile, on VGChartz...

Wrong. Carl has the up to date chart.  The game platforms chart you're using is the out of date one.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

On Microsoft's first quarter 2014 financial results (31st March 2014) the 360 had shipped 83.7 million now 2 and a bit months after it's up to 84 million so 300,000 shipped in 2 months,

This could be the answer..

So did Sony announce PS3 numbers? I didn't watch their conference

I see people talking about 360 being undertracked, but before MS said they sold 80M, VGC was undertracked as well by a million or so and ADJUSTED it right after. How can they be mistaken by another million or even 2? This time I believe VGC, 360 is simply over-shipped and RRoD adjusts from the past then making 84M- 81M sold, 3 Million shipped and RRoD substitutes

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

So does that mean that the 360 is still in second place...?

when was ps3 last numbers revealed and how much?

I think it was this. 80 million announced on November 6, 2013.

That announcement came about a month after ms said the 360 also hit 80 million.

Kowen and especially Seece have said numerous times the 360 has been ahead of the PS3 the whole time and have been ridiculed.

Fluky, rrod units don't count as sales. That would be lying to the shareholders.... A massive no no!

Actually they absolutly count as sales, were counted as sales, and shareholders were very much aware. Warranties wern't changed for a full year after RRod was made known as a serious problem. Many people purchased new consoles because they had gone through 2-3 and they were no longer covered. Then after warranties any and all replacements were still counted as sales. People may have said that about them being ahead but NPD and offcial statements constanty contradicted that.

All Hail the Jester King. The King is back, and I am still a dirty girl prof ;)

Xbox gets a lap headstart in a race, its a photo finish.

Rather than scratch out each others eyes for second place, consider this.
Xbox 360 did exceptionally well at retail given the low numbers for the previous console.
PS3 did exceptionally well to close the gap and be slightly-behind/neck-and-neck/slightly-ahead of the 360 despite being launched a year later at a much higher price.

Who wins, and deserves praise?

Both do.
