Any technical improvement, the Japanese are the first to adopt on this, Consoles, handhelds and now finally mobiles taking over.
when will the mobiles start hacking @ console sales in the rest of the world?

or is this just the japanese being silly

Never, I hope.

And I hope that it's just a phase for the japanese as well and that they'll soon realize that gaming on smartphones and tablets isn't all that great.

Japan still can be saved once proper games start being released. I blame Nintendo and Sony for letting it reach to this point.

Ps4 sold well in West because it had the biggest ip in launch Fifa,Call of duty,Assasin Creed the equivalent of those games in Japan are Final Fantasy,Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter ps4 in Japan don't have those big ip it's dosn't even have a great quantity of small games.



PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I wonder how many people mainly buy a smartphone for gaming an console without great game is just like a smartphone without the ability to talk with it
