The sales of the game are great. The HW sales are a letdown.
Makes you think if this is just a Wii U problem or is more of a home console problem.

Terrible WiiU HW sales. Great for MK8.
Next week drop shall be steep for both HW and SW. Wii U will probably be going back to sub 10k in no time.
Nothing else of importance to be released until mid August, so sales and interest will plumet abysmally. Wii U is dead in Japan.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

15th Week Sales Comparison |
Damn those are some rough figures. But what do you expect when there's no games?
When the games start coming the situation will improve. But for now, this is totally expected; and probably deserved as well.
Wasn't there a fun line graph somewhere used for the Wii U and PSV to show their sales with relation to the Dreamcast? Wonder how many more weeks it'll take until the PS4 falls below it.
Im going to say Hyrule Warriors give a bigger boost than MK8 did :P
Pikmin 3 gave a bigger boost than MK8.... go figure :0
Sooooo what about that guy who said 400k? I know we should be more careful next time.
But great MK8 software numbers. Really weird about hardware though. Maybe it will spread on many weeks to come.
Mario Kart did very well, as expected.
WiiU hardware bump is bad though. Most buyers were previous owners starved for a game to finally come out.
Also that's another blog debunked.

ALL home consoles (and you could almost extend that to all consoles) are dead in Japan. When your highest selling system is just above 20k, and were it not for Mario Kart all home consoles selling below 10k, you know there's something more at play than one system not performing.
