Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 offerings at GDC - Wasn't a complete bust

Sony seemed pretty low-key this year. I was at least expecting a killzone 2 update. Probaly waiting for a huge E3.

Don't forget about Tank:

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Sony didn't impress with much this time around. I wouldn't say it was a disappointment. The wow factor just wasn't there because of the lack of stuff they had for 2007 (They showed a bunch of 2008 stuff last year as their primary showcase). That's not bad just a strategy that caught up to them at this year's event.

Wow ... Wipeout HD looks amazing . If the gameplay is as smooth as the one on Pulse/Pure , than it will be amazing :D

Time to Work !

GDC wasnt very good this year for Sony. Here's hoping for a good Gamers Day in March or May.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Yeah this is a nice confrence. I really don't know what people were expecting. I was expecting showcases and updates/progress of developers. Thats what it sounds like it was to me. I don't know why people are praising MS for having announcements. seems to me MS got pinched because people were saying "omg ms = nothing" so MS was forced to give some "big announcement"

Well, at least their console didn't fail on them twice like it happened with the 360 at GDC, so I guess they win in the category: "games that can be played on functioning hardware"

The Phyre engine was of course big news.
