I have a Wii U, but the issue with it for me is it doesn't have much of an outlook.  Game expectations are down to the low digits, which may be ok for a Nintendo fan that rates all Nintendo IP very highly, but I like only some of them.  A great Zelda is my hope.

I've been playing Super Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, etc. for 20+ years. Give me something else. And before someone says "but you're up to FFXV and MGS is like the 12th title in the series", Those games (and other non-Nintendo long running franchises) have had a different story and different mechanics in pretty much every game. That's enough to grab me. Hopping on goombas to get to a castle that doesn't have the princess for 20 years isn't comparable. Saving Princess Zelda from Ganon by dungeon crawling and breaking pots isn't comparable. So on and so forth.

As long as the biggest reason to get a Nintendo console is another Mario Kart or a Zelda, then no thank you. Only way, at this point, I would get a Nintendo console is if they came up with some new IPs; or if Sony or Microsoft got the Nintendo treatment from 3rd parties, and all that support went to Nintendo. Neither seems to be happening in the near future and games like X (you know, things that are genuinely interesting) are so few and far between that a Nintendo console would be a dust collector. People hated that term used about the Wii....but it was true for that console, it seems to be true for the WiiU, and until 3rd party support picks up and new IPs are made, the same will be true for any future Nintendo console

I've been mostly a fan of Nintendo's products, Playstation products, & Sega consoles when I was a kid, so why not? :)

I love Nintendo, but on their own they make a fine secondary console. Sony makes a more well rounded system that appeals to me and yes part of that is lack of odd controllers and in favor of more power.

I'm going to buy a WiiU once it's $250 or $200 and the 4 or 5 games I want for it are cheaper. Nintendo has awesome first party but not in great volume and I mostly get them for local MP

Yes it's developed by Platinum but Nintendo owns the IP.

I simply cannot get past Nintendo's art design. It was fine at first but over the years it has slowly been pushing me away to the point it's become a turn off.

I need more than just gameplay. Sad? Perhaps, but it's either that or the highway really. 

At this point I don't think I'll ever get a Nintendo System again. If Sony drops and Microsoft doesn't step up their game, I simply will move on from gaming altogehter. I'm too old to care. 

There's always some type of hypothetical question regarding Wii U. "What if it wasn't named Wii U" "What if it didn't come with a gamepad" "What if it was as powerful as XOne and PS4". The only way these questions would matter in the slightest is if Nintendo themselves asked it. These threads won't magically make the hypothetical questions come true so why ask?

I absolutely hate using the GamePad as a controller. Most all of the games I like a lot nowadays are M rated.

What's stopping me from buying wiiU if power is set aside? An underdeveloped online element that is more than a generation behind, a lack of apps that let me do things other than gaming, and a complete lack of new exclusives. Sorry, but at some point, Nintendo has to mature past Mario.
