Forums - Nintendo - Wait a second... Can we talk about how the Wii U technically has no 2015 games right now?

Like none. Every single Wii U game announced has it's release date as either 2014, or TBD. All of them. ...What's the deal? Don't get me wrong, I think we'll see a lot of delays, and some games that are TBD will surely be slated for 2015, but as of now, that's nothing but speculation. Barring indies, no one could really argue that Nintendo couldn't release all of it's already announced games this year. There's no overwhelming evidence against any of it. The only confirmed 2015 game on the Wii U that I can think of is Mighty No. 9, and indie multiplat.

My whole thing is there's no way some of these games won't be delayed, but why wait this long to delay them. Especially since I have this irking suspicion that a lot of those delays will be revealed at E3, which is the LAST place you want to do them.

Here's everything confirmed to come out in 2014:

X - 2014

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - Winter 2014

Hyrule Warriors - 2014

Bayonetta 2 - 2014

Yarn Yoshi - 2014 (TBD)

Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem - 2014 (TBD)

Sonic Boom - 2014

And then there's Zelda U, who's release date is TBD, but could very realistically come out this year. Or not, but the big thing to take away is that we don't know. It's been in developement for 3 years and Aonume has said that he wants the next Zelda to have a shorter developement time.

Do you think they might really release all of those announced games this year? Last year they said that they wanted to start announcing games closer to their release dates. Could this be what they where talking about? Could they be getting ready to bombard us with a bunch of 2014 release dates at E3 or a bunch of delays? In 11 days, well find out.

EDIT:

I think you guys are misunderstanding my point. I know there will be Wii U games announced at E3 for 2015 and beyond. That is a given. I'm not worried about the Wii U's 2015 software output. That's not the point of this thread. The point is to determine whether what has been announced so far will really keep their 2014 release dates, because right now, the only real defense against it is "I just don't think it will happen, but I have no real facts basis to back that up at all." Even with Zelda U, there's literally no reason to believe it can't come out this year.

No, not really. Because come E3 we will have some games for 2015, and a good number of "TBD" titles will become 2015 as well.

My guess? X will be early 2015, SMT x FE in April time, Yarn Yoshi in the summer, an unannounced title in the summer also and then a "Galaxy 3" and Zelda U in the Winter.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

No reason to talk about that. There are several AAA games coming to the Wii U in the upcoming months, Nintendo doesn't wants you to overlook them by thinking in 2015.

"Wii are legion, for Wii are many"

I don't think yarn Yoshi, X or Zelda will be this year

Zelda U will be Next year imo, Also we have Fatal Frame U, I think Shin Megami Tensei x FE is coming early next year.

Also you forgot Pokken Fighters as that can be next years game, the new IP from Miyamoto (NFC Game?), and i made a prediction if Delta Emerald is true, it'll be a WiiU game. It'll be Emerald HD with Pokemon Battle Revolution elements on the side.

There will be games, no need to hit the panic butto yet :P

WiiU just because Xbox 360 2011-2013

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Personally i think X would, the other 2 especially Zelda next year. X can be a Oct/early Nov release and SSB a late Nov

Um, E3 is coming up... This seems like a topic to discuss after that...

Yarn Yoshi and SMTxFE are TBD. Not 2014.
