So,for future references, when you guys say "mainland" you mean europe without islands?

That's what people say when they want to exclude the UK. Although technically I should also exclude Ireland so substract an extra 37 units or so ;p

Ireland is actually one of the largest consumers of video games in the world per capita. Derp! Or was this stating that xbox1 is that unpopular?

So, it's released in 13 counties, 6 of which are European. 5 of which aren't the UK. Yeah...doomed.

Those countries represent like 80+% of sales in mainland Europe.

Expect sales to skyrocket to 5,200 units or so.

Every little helps...

I dont think anybody disputes that...but adinnieken is trying to imply that the numbers are not that low based on the fact that its only 5 european countries. Given that those 5 countries are the bulk of European sales (minues UK) then trolls point stands.

Saw this coming a mile away. People claimed it was outrageous to think the X1 and all it's 3rd party support would flounder in the market as it currently does.

Really? You knew that a once dominant console was going to end up like this?  Grasping at a price cut and some heavy hitting games to bring its sales up. Did you also see the Wii U being in the position it is in? Or did you think it would do decent. Especially since the Wii was so big.

The moment I saw the controller I knew that Wii U would be a stinker.

Correction, the Xbox One launched last November in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the U.K. and the U.S.

Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK = 7. So 7 European countries, 6 of which aren't the UK.

And it will be launching in the following in September:

  • Argentina
  • Belgium
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • India
  • Israel
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Russia
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • South Africa
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Turkey
  • United Arab Emirates

Hmm i think things will change once the price cut takes effect. I dont know to what extent the price cut will have in mainland Europe but there will be some effect.

I also think MS is going to absolutely kill it at this years E3. They are the only one out of the big 3 that really seems positioned to come out guns blazing.

I dont think that there is much more to "talk about" that hasnt already been covered. The entire launch window in mainland Europe has been a disaster.

Wrong strategy for the market.

No games+no hype. Things could very easily do much better, who knows what the future brings.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Once again it doesnt matter with where the sales are. A sale in japan is just ma good as a sale in germany or the US. Sure it reveals apathy for a brand in a region but worldwide is the only thing that matters in the end. If microsoft can begin outselling the ps4 in north america then it could offset most of the european loss in marketshare.

I was both stating that it's unpopular and that Ireland is a small market. Things might be great per capita, but it's just 6m people after all.

Now seriously, if we add up the populations of those 6 countries (260m or so), divide the X1 numners by them and multiply them by Ireland's population (6m or so), we get 110 units. If the per capita sales are higher and if the X1 is more popular there (being an English speaking country), it might have sold 200 units or so.
