So, it's released in 13 counties, 6 of which are European. 5 of which aren't the UK. Yeah...doomed.

Correction, the Xbox One launched last November in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the U.K. and the U.S.

Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK = 7. So 7 European countries, 6 of which aren't the UK.

And it will be launching in the following in September:

  • Argentina
  • Belgium
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • India
  • Israel
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Russia
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • South Africa
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Turkey
  • United Arab Emirates

Some of these countries arent european though.  And historically they havent done a lot for the xbox. Most of these countries are just as focused on playstation as the other Europe countries. My own (denmark)  included.  For every xbox 360 i have seen people own here i saw about 15 ps3,s.

X1 will always be strong in USA, so I think Microsoft is happy

A reasonable person you are.

X1 will outsell ps4 longterm in USA.

First I thought it was ok for X1, then I saw PS4 sold 38k...

Post of the month...no the year!

The century!

Current consoles: Wii U, Gaming PC

Add me on Wii U! Adamjh99

Add me on Steam! GamingByAdam

Europe is far more picking about consumer products, they aren't walmart people. Superior quality of the PS4 is quite apparent to them, even a 299 european equivalent cut would do nothing for the X1 there. X1s problems go far beyond price, its the whole mentality behind its design and existence.

Once again it doesnt matter with where the sales are. A sale in japan is just ma good as a sale in germany or the US. Sure it reveals apathy for a brand in a region but worldwide is the only thing that matters in the end. If microsoft can begin outselling the ps4 in north america then it could offset most of the european loss in marketshare.

NO.

Even 360 domminance of NA was not enough to out sale PS3 worldwide, 360 lead was due to early launch.  At best X1 will marginally take NA with a 50/55% market share which is NOT even enough to offset Germany right now, no matter even 360 NA % would not be enough.  What you posted is plain wrong and impossible.

The XBox was never big in mainland Europe even the 360 didn't do so good there so this really isn't big news.

Europe minus UK
-> 2014-05-17

PS4 : 37021
XB1 : 4757

this is an almost 8-to-1 ratio, or more precisely, 88.6% vs 11.4% between PS4 and XB1

Playstation 5 vs XBox Series Market Share Estimates

Regional Analysis  (only MS and Sony Consoles)
Europe     => XB1 : 23-24 % vs PS4 : 76-77%
N. America => XB1 :  49-52% vs PS4 : 48-51%
Global     => XB1 :  32-34% vs PS4 : 66-68%

Sales Estimations for 8th Generation Consoles

Next Gen Consoles Impressions and Estimates

I think this may be the effect of the usual price cut effect where people hold out and wait to buy the least expensive option.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

Or more likely, VGC numbers are off.
