Whose watching the Carborundum cup final?

I just watched it for a while. Too busy to see the whole game but I'm not missing anything. Another heartless performance by us just asking to be humiliated.

edit. Of course it's a cup final against City so it's not like it's a shame to lose but I just wish they'd show some fight damnit.

No moment has a football player looked more clueless about what just happened.

Hmm, pie.

Looks like Neymar will miss the next (and last?) Champions League game. With how selfishly he played the previous match, this could be a positive for PSG. Who knows.

Spending that much money on one player to have him miss the most important game of the season is ridiculous though. PSG will go one to win just about the same trophies they used to win before Neymar

Some changes are being made to the qualifiers for the Champions League and Europa League starting next season: http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2499801.html#/champions+league+europa+changes+next+season
The 2 biggest changes are the fact that teams knocked out in the first 2 rounds of the Champions League qualifiers now get a second chance in the Europa League qualifiers, and the Europa League qualifiers now also has a Champions Path which means champions from smaller leagues such as Israel, Cyprus, Romania and everything beneath that will no longer for example have to worry about playing the #2, #3 from countries like Ukraine, Belgium, Turkey, Austria etc., instead they'll only play Champions from other small countries.

At the end of the day I expect these changes to be absolutely fantastic for small teams from the smaller leagues.

Give it a few more years and there won't even be qualifiers. It will just be 8 teams from England, Spain, Italy and Germany and the rest will just be left out in the cold. That's the route UEFA seems intent on going.

I fully expect something like that to happen within the decade. Top 2 leagues (Spain & England) gets 6 spots each, 3rd and 4th leagues (Italy and Germany) 5 spots each, 5th league (France) 4 spots, 6th league (Russia) 2 spots, 7th and 8th leagues (Portugal and Ukraine) 1 spot each and then Champions League and Europa League winners get a spot, with those spots moving to the 9th and 10th league if the CL and EL winners also qualified through their domestic leagues. Complete removal of the qualifiers, and the Europa League gets expanded to 64 teams with 3rd place teams from the CL Group Stages no longer going to the EL knock-out fase or there's a brand new 3rd international competition.

Another option which also wouldn't surprise me is the Champions League's format totally changing. 16 best teams in the world Europe get an automatic place in the knock-out stages which now contains 32 teams, with the other 16 teams qualifying the regular way like it is right now.

I've probably placed this here before already, but another thing that needs 'fixing' is the huge difference in prize money between the Champions League and the Europa League. In the Champions League Group Stages every team gets €12.7mil before the Group Stages even begin, if you want €12.7mil in prize money in the Europa League you need to do the following:

Qualify for the Group Stage (€2.6mil)
Win all 6 Group Stage matches (€360k a win, €2.16mil total)
Which also means you win your group (€600k)
Reach the round of 32 (€500k)
Reach the round of 16 (€750k)
Reach the quarter finals (€1mil)
Reach the semi finals (€1.6mil)
Reach the final and lose it (€3.5mil)
Total: €12.71mil

Someone PLEASE tell me how it's fair that the losing finalist of the Europa League gets just €10.000 more in prize money than a team which qualifies for the Champions League Group Stages and loses all their 6 games. A win in the Champions League Groups Stages gets you €1.5mil as well, in the Europa League you don't even get that if you win 4 matches.

Beat Arsenal 3-0 twice in a single week? Yeah, we totally just did that

You could have sent the under 21s out in the 2nd half.

You were literally playing at 40, maybe 50%. Chillin'

Is that something to be proud of?

This is what I have to put up with? Liverpool (and Tottenham) fans acting big now that they are basically doing what we have been laughed at for 10+ years minus the trophies? :D

Anyway, Wenger has totally lost the plot. It doesn't even look like he has a game plan anymore. We won't see him next season, I'm sure of it.. I think so.. I don't know..

Pretty sure Arsenal wasn't being constantly laughed at for getting to UCL quarter-finals for 10 years... because spoiler, they weren't.

Liverpool's been constantly getting to UCL quarter-finals for last 10 years? I mean come on, you think if we'd had made it to quarter-finals once of twice in last 6 years we wouldn't have been laughed at? Nah.

Yup it was bad to get knocked out on round of 16 for 6 years but hey, twice against Barcelona and twice against Bayern at least.
