The game looks fantastic (from the videos anyway). Looking forward to 5 years later when Wii U will be easy to find for cheap :). At the moment it is crazy expensive in my country. Actually it was expensive, it is nowhere to be found for months. My last Mario Kart was on DS.

Well, having played the game now, I'm able to fully comment.

Yes "jaggies" are noticeable in the game. If that's something you find detracting it may be an issue for the game. However I think it looks absolutely stunning and I kind of like the crispness of the visuals that is given due to no AA. (it doesn't look like everything is through a soft filter). However if sacrificing AA was for 60fps. TOTALLY WORTH IT. I'd take the smoothness any day over softer visuals.

To me MK looks fantastic. That duplicate frame every 64 frames is noticible, but only if you look for it. Overall as someone with both a PS4 and Wii U, I have to say I'd be happy with the visuals on MK8 if it was one of my PS4 games. Infamous is more technically impressive thanks to how much more is going on, but Mario Kart 8 is certainly in the same league from aesthetics.

mario kart should not be compared to infamous, the graphics in infamous are on a whole different level in every catagory except framrate. mario kart is just not a techically impressive game, every direct feed pics of mario kart 8 i have looked at, shows average textures, low poly models, bad IQ and jaggies. honestly it's not even top tier for a 7th gen game tech wise.

I have the game and the first two tracks I played disapointed me grafically. But the more you play the more you see all the other details that makes the game wonderful. Now I don't even see the jaggies, just the pure fun it provides.

As I said, Infamous is more technically impressive to how much more is going on (i.e how much more complicated the game is) but when they're both on my Panasonic GT Plasma, Mario Kart does not look out of place. It's amazing how much 60fps helps make things look better. But the lighting on levels like Moo Moo Plains etc is spot on and in motion they look great.

If you are using screenshots to make your point, your point doesn't really make sense as I'm talking about how the games look in motion whilst playing them. I can assure you that those screen shots bare no resemblence to how it looks in motion.

I know, right?

Those pics look like a Star Fox game. They look nothing like Mario Kart 8.

Seriously though, as great as MK8 looks, it's not in the same league as Infamous. That doesn't mean Mario Kart 8 can't be pleasing to the eyes.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. For me it's up there. I know it's nowhere near as technically demanding on the hardware (hence why the Wii U is running it) but from how it looks on the screen it's roughly on the same level. Now, how a game like MK8 could look on PS4 hardware is a very exciting prospect. It's a shame no one else makes those sorts of games anymore.

Just the fact that MK8 is an aliasing fest while Infamous has one of the best AA in a console game ever just makes the comparison completely ridiculous. Since you agree about one game being technically superior, I won't get further than that (open world VS racing, for example)...

Now, while one runs at 30pfs and the other at 59, that doesn't shake the fact that one looks crystal crisp while the other is a jaggies fest. Yes, it still looks great by Wii U's standard, but those two games are not in the same ball park. It's a shame Nintendo couldn't implement proper AA for that game, and I know that you don't notice the jaggies as much after playing the game for a while. But the point still stands.

just by looking a direct feed screens you can clearly see infamous looks a generation ahead of mario kart 8, yea mario kart 8 looks better in motion but when your not moving and focus on the graphics it looks exactly like those direct feed pics, of course while your racing, moving fast you won't notice this jaggies, average textures and low poly count as much.

Agreed, 100% and especially @bolded.

As beautiful as PS4 and XB1 games are and as big as the tech gap is between them and WiiU, the perceivable difference is no where near what it was last gen.  I can play Infamous or Titanfall for awhile and then switch right over to MK8 or 3D World and they look just fine.  Going from a PS3/360 game to a Wii game was a little painful in the visual department.

I think mario kart 8 is better than any game on PS4 personally...

but it looks like a PS3 game to me with a few bonus graphics effects PS3 can't do efficiently. It has great art direction and is a lot of fun which is ultimately what matters to me.

The technical aspects of the graphics don't matter that much, but I definetely am not impressed by it.
