What a silly contribution. Any thread can be mindlessly devolved like that. If you're going to disagree with the thread then at least explain why.

You defeated yourself. The post I quoted perfectly explains how I felt about your thread, hence what I said to the poster I quoted.

You say Sony 'wins by default', but that's only after you make all these exceptions to the rule you've made up.

My main point was that Sony has the best starting position of the big 3 when going into a generation.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

When it comes to consoles, so far the PS3 has been the only exception to this rule. And even that will change in a couple of years time.

Nope.

PS1 won 1st with CDs and 3rd parties.
PS2 won 1st with DVDs and 3rd parties.
PS3 won 2nd place with BluRay and 3rd parties.
PS4 is winning with hype and 3rd parties.

I you don't know, you'd best just stay quiet.

We are not talking about hardware, we are talking about software. Nintendo is the greatest publisher of all time for dedicated consoles, that's not an opinion, it's a fact. Regardless of how many consoles Sony has sold and what that might mean to you.

Nope that is definitely an opinion. To call them best selling would be a fact but calling them greatest is highly subjective and so only an opinion.

Nope, it's a fact. I am talking about sales, not tastes.

If you define "greatest" to mean "best selling", then of course. But if that's the case then your point doesn't tell us anything that isn't already painfully obvious.

Yes.

The PS3 will not catch the Wii " in a couple years" or ever sales have dropped off already a lot.

As for last generation, the Wii probably would have sold extremely well regardless of Sony's decision. However, the PS3 could have sold much more - potentially more than the Wii - if Sony didn't mess up so badly.

Even so, it still will.

It wasn't painfully obvious to k-pi or to phantom-something.

It seems k-pi disagees with your interpretation of "greatest." Phantom doesn't realize that when you said "greatest publisher of dedicated console gaming" in your original post, you really meant "greatest software publisher of dedicated console gaming."

As usual on the internet, the source of the argument was caused by a lack of communication rather than a disagreement of points felt by opposing parties. Same goes for this entire thread: 90% of the "debates" in this thread have been shallow semantic disputes without any actual substance.

No Jay, I repeated to him many times what I was talking about, and to him Sony destroyed Nintendo in SW since they entered on the market. I repeated at least twice that I was talking about Nintendo-published games.

I communicated my idea perfectly since the first post, where I said Nintendo is the greatest software publisher of dedicated console gaming. As well as:

"Nintendo is still, by far, the greatest publisher of dedicated console gaming. Take a look at the overall game sales charts, and there you will find your answer."

People read what they want to read. You haven't learned that yet?

In your first post, you didn't explicitly state "software."

Anyway, we agree...phantom didn't realize what you meant, at least not until already deep into the argument where he argues that "greatest" doesn't depend on software published sales...again, a semantic dispute.
