He hasn't signed anything yet but it's been pretty much confirmed it's going to be Channing Tatum...which I'm not sure how I feel about. On one hand, it might be good on the other hand it's Channing Tatum.

@PDF In one of the later episodes of the animated series in the 90's, Wolverine and Mystique were lovers during the Weapon X experiment I believe. I don't know specifically that she has anything really to do with the operation but perhaps they were just showing Mystique was still around regardless of if anybody knew she were there.

wasn't it during WWI ?

As far as I know, he went to World War 1 and World War 2 before the Weapon X program happened. But for the movies, everything seems to have been moved forward timeframewise.

the thing is with all the different comics/multiple cartoons/films i'm not sure anymore where the following plot comes from: he and she met pre wwI as kids, he lost his memory because he got shot in the head during the war while fight as soldier and didn't come back to her

EDIT: had to satisfy my curiosity, They sort of reused it in X-men origins

imo it's the best x-men movie (slightly better than first class and X1 which were my previous favorites) and my favorite superhero movie since the dark night.

I thought the action was really clever, combining powers and not having way too much.

I give it a 4/5. It was not perfect, or thematically amazing. But, it was a very good tight superhero movie.

Lots of things to talk about I see. Thanks for all the feed back.

SPOILERS Paragraph
The guy at the end has to be Apocalypse, due to grey skin and blue lips. The people were also bowing to him and calling him 'En Sabah Nur', his actual name. I think that little preview was not set in the 20th century but the idea it was set thousands of years ago when the pyramids were built and it was Poccy that built them.

Hmm, pie.

Wolverine's timeline is mixed up, yes. So is Mystiques, both are well over 100 years old in the comics. In the 90s Cartoon, i don't remember Mystique being part of the Weapon X programme, that cartoon was actually more faithful to the original plot, Silver Fox, Sabretooth and Maverick being the main cast. They however met in the comics in early 20th century when both were about to be executed by firing squad, did some stuff but they both remember each other, just never met, until Wolverine's memory wipe due to the Weapon X programme.

Then again, the amount of stupid historical retcons that writers are allowed to do sometimes baffles me, you know they've changed Magento's real name? I mean what on earth is the point in that? How will giving him a new name define his character from a questionably noble man with horrific ideals.

Hmm, pie.

While brainstorming any movie that will focus cyclops will finally also have Sinister as evil guy and seeing that Sinister was created by Apocalypse could that be also in the next movie? Fighting against Appy to keep the world safe and involve Sinister creating some personal development for scott

Well, since they're also making a X-Force movie, it makes sense that Sinister also appears on Apocalypse, since they can build up with the story by showing a preview of Cable.

Not sure how into time travel the X-men movie universe needs to get, may confuse many people. Sinister was never really an X-force villain. Although all X-men villains crossed over, I just don't see it that much. But I see Sinister more involved with Cyclops than anyone so him in a main film would be welcome.

Besides, any X-force would probably have involvement from Rob Liefeld... I shudder at the idea.

It would be more of alternate dimensions than Time Travel per se. Nate Grey was born from the genetic tampering of Sinister, and Cable is Earth 616's counterpart of Nate Grey.

If the next movie is centered on the events of Age of Apocalypse, or takes cues from it, then it would be feasible for Sinister to appear in this movie and set up the events for the future X-Force movie (which is slated to release on 2016). Also from the early synopsis of the movie:

"A time-traveler assembles a team of mutants in order to prevent the wrecked future he came from."

So cable is set to appear in the movie, and it's hinted that Deadpool will be as well, since it's gonna take cues from the comics where they team up, Apocalypse Solution and Cable&X-Force (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3053198/)

Thing is about the way DOFP ended everything from 1973 didn't happen as seen in the first 4 movies and the Wolverine. So the current time is First Class and DOFP and nothing else because it was all undone by Wolverine going back in time. Hence, the reason why Jean Grey and Cyclopes are alive at the end of the movie and Professor X and Logan are the only ones with memories of the alternate events.

True, althought based on release times, they'd both be out the same year. A shame to relegate Sinister to a pin off. :P

I know nothing of X-men Apocalypse mind you and would prefer to remain unaware. But alternate realities would be confusing to the general public. In Marvel terms (until very recent made up bull crap by Bendis and his idiotcy) when a person time travels instantly that timeline is they arrive to is changed (or in how it's meant to work, they jump one reality), that person was not present in the original timeline so what happened that is bad occured, their existance would alter that. Else what would be the point in going back?

Because of this X-men have like 15 different alternate futures, the Avengers have their own set as well, they are futures based on the current situation and if a time traveller comes back to alter things, their free will means any action has changed things. If they travel into the future, they usually either travel directly on the timeline they are in (their arrival in the future hasn't happened yet so their free will can't change something that hasn't happened) or back one reality to their messed up future, still messed up.

What this film seemed to try and do is keep it consistant, no distant alternate futures, just one timeline that can be altered. The problem is, that synopsis is too close to what we just saw, isn't it?

Side note, I hated the newer X-force stuff. All of it. Making good characters into cold murders, plots that didn't make any sense, far too much time travel. The real Apocalypse hasn't been seen since Austen's ill thought out story and at this rate I can only think his return will be handled badly. It was a silly idea to make him the suit not the person to begin with.

I went into a comic book rant. I miss doing that.
