He always sets ridiculous targets that they never meet. This should be his last year as CEO if their loses are bigger than expected again.

really? How So?

this is not like Sir Howard, For one Kaz is making cuts where they are needed, and again, the entire board is still in there! to displace them or Kaz i would imagine there would be quite the outcry by west centric holding firms, but the fact that Kaz is saying there would be no "choice" can mean many thing's but one thing is for sure its very doubtful the board will ask for kaz to step down because if he did not do what he has been doing it would have been quite a bit worse for Sony this slightly over 1 billion loss could have been d@mn near 2 billion or hell even more for the 2013 year, and if anything the TV section may infact be sold off. right now its spun off to give it a chance. This is a very clear statement get it in gear or we wil have no choice:

but to?

what do you think that means?  how about divest ourselves of such assets!they already sold off the PC line TV's has lost Sony over 1 billion a year for 9 straight years. if anything you can bet it is on the chopping block its the TV section that has lost such billions!

I'm not hating on Sony, I'm hating on him. In his time as CEO, they have continued to make loses. The same divisions that were very unprofitable before he was CEO are still unprofitable now. Every year they announce more redudancies. The TV division, which has lost Sony billions, continues to be part of the company and continues to make loses. And even now he has said that the company will not sell it.

Kaz Hirai is not a Wizard, repairing Sony isn't a cakewalk. If you keep firing the CEOs, how would you expect anything to get done.

Honestly....I am getting bored of waiting.

Year after year after year after year..........when is a climax or crescendo actually going to happen? Sony posts a billion loss last year......yet they still operate business as usual, albeit with some restructuring. Nothing actually happens.

Its like the debt ceiling with the US government.....anti-gov people keep saying the country is on the verge of collapse....yet year after year after year its just business as usual. Nothing actually happens.

How much longer can this go on before something actually happens? Either grow, stay stagnant, but if you are losing money.....the news should just stop being reported all together if it doesn't actually mean anything. I'd rather not hear anything at all until they are either in the clear or have to make some drastic choices.

He's not acting fast enough. No company would keep a division that keeps losing them so much money but Sony just doesn't want to get rid of the TV division.

Sony has been slow to develop new products. Their products are great but they are always too late to the market.

A few years ago Panasonic was in a worse position than Sony, but they turned it around, and now they are profitable. In the same time, Sony has had more bad news, more layoffs, more losses (except one profitable year where they benefited from selling buildings). Why is it that Panasonic which is a very similar Japanese electronics company as Sony has been able to become profitable whilst Sony has continued to perform poorly?

and if Kaz and the board have not been doing anything? it would have been far worse!, you cannot have it both ways.

The fact that the company has over 138,000+ employee's does not mean you just make snap judgement's quickly like that IN JAPAN its not like that, its one thing to "say hey we have to stop the bleeding" its a whole other thing when you have 10's of thousands of employee's that are employed by your company that you hold some responsibility to those people!

the point being Japan is not the west! they do not look at it the same way some west centric markets do, if it was there would not be as divided between cultures on this part in the market, but it is. and thats over 40 years worth of history has shown us things like this is never as clear cut and dry as many seem to think it is, its like looking at the japanese culture and stating "well it needs to be this way" while japanese may say well it needs to be this way.

Its very easy to sit and point out the flaw's you think someone is doing, but you may not stop to think about is, maybe that is the way he has to work at it in japanese culture, for instance the court system is not the same in japan as it is in the west.

does that mean the court system in japan is outdated? Some may say yes by "our standards" but by the japanese standards its not!

does that mean we are right and the japanese are wrong?

Again thats by most of the views as from the non japanese!

Sony is not Panasonic! they are not the same company, why is Apple not like Microsoft? or Why is google not like Samsung?

every company has many things that they work on and the fact that something's the board is not willing to divest the company of such assets at such a low price! its one thing to say, well they are not working fast enough, but its another to just get rid of a physical assets right away instead of getting more value off of the Holding instead of jumping at the lowest offering you get quick instead of waiting it out for a better offer.

You do know land in japan is a premium price per/sq ft right?

for all we know Sony is waiting for a japanese ran company to gather up the scratch to purchase such physical Assets from Sony , and not for a non japanese ran or owned company to purchase.

Sony's fine guys. The PS4 devision will keep Sony afloat.

*eye roll*

No one has said that, you're talking nonsense

I wish he was, but I've seen people make that claim also. "PS4 alone could save Sony" I can't help but laguh everytime I see someone say that.
