although its not an official contest, every year we as gamers sure make it seem to be. Last years E3 was no regular E3.
two next gen consoles were announced and the focus was mainly on them, and nintendo decided to change their appraoch and do a Nintendo DIrect instead of a live confrence. Microsoft started went all out, showing game after game, and its no denying that they killed it when it came to game. however, the issues about DRM and always online over shadowed a lot of the confrence and ultimatly, microsoft fell short when it came to "winning the confrence.
Next up it was Sony, and unlike Microsoft they didnt go all out, They instead continued focus on games that were coming out for the PS3 and showed off The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls and Gran turismo 7. all AAA games that were coming out that year. Then they talked about more of the games they already announced for PS4, Killzone, Knack, Infamous and DriveClub, and to top it off they Announced The Order 1886. but what really got the masses chearing was the announcement of no DRM, no blocking used games and no online requiment. with all the hype surrounding PS4, and those announcments, Sony won the show.
Nintendo on the other hand made a gamble with their approach, and did a Nintendo Direct, ultimatly, it failed to generate much hype, even when they announced games like 3D mario world, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros, along side showing games like W101, X and Bayonnetta.
This year, Microsoft are in a tough position, they are losing the US and UK markets, are preforming badly in EU and still havent officialy released in other than the 13 launch countries, will they go all out again and show games that are way off from release like last year? what about Sony? will they still be conservative and show one or two games? or show some of the many games they have in development? maybe focus on PS now and project morphues? and last but not least what will nintendo do? they already made the same mistake of not doing a confrence, but will they bring enough games to win over the media and gamers? or will EA or Ubisoft come in and snatch the win from one of the big three?
who will win E3, make your prediction ladies and gentlemen!
