Said the same thing on an earlier page, I miss Myst-type games, Riven, The 7th Hour, and the 11th Guest....awesome games, point and click/puzzlers...effin amazing.

If you enjoyed The Neverhood (definitely recommended if you haven't played it), check out the upcoming spiritual successor, Armikrog.

Point and click adventure. Outside of free flash games the genre is pretty dead. Has a lot of potential for story and puzzle solving. The genre used to be huge. Remember Myst? Nowadays I just see a few kickstarters for them here and there.

When I mentioned kickstarters in my first comment, I was specifically thinking of Armikrog.

to be fair the past gen had a fair amount of beat em ups thanks to the DL scene. some remakes(turtles in time) re releases(simpsons) and even some new ones (scott pilgrim)

I wanna see 3d platformers that needs to come back

Open-world platformers.

This so much, I hope the next Ninendo EAD Tokyo Mario game is open world.

Well, there is definitely a possibility! http://gamerant.com/nintendo-open-world-mario-if-fans-demand/

Hack and Slash games because other than God Of War the genre is dead.

Good old platformers. These days only Nintendo makes them.

More of the classic style adventure games as well as turn based strategy RPGS. I would really like to see more games in lively fantasy worlds rather than the constant gritty post-apocalyptic ones found in so many games.

Point-and-Click (Telltale keeps 'em coming strong)
RTS
Simulations
non-Nintendo 3D platformers (seemed to have lost all support and died as soon as FPS's became the primary mainstream game genre)

i wasn't even aware that JRPG's are apparently in decline, it seems like i've seen nothing but scores and scores of JRPG's in the last generation or so.

Traditional (great) 3D platformers. There are a lot of more indie like platformers at the moment but no 3D platformers on the awesome level of Jak and Daxter. (Not like Jak 2 or 3, they were more openworld/racing games than traditional platforming, very disappointing).

Hmm, pie.

God I didn't expect this much diversity I expected 3d platformers to come up and JRPG's but point and click adventures, online quiz, simulations, and RTS' all surprised me.

I guess less people care about the golden age of 2D beat 'em ups than I thought. I might have to join the hack and slash bandwagon if this continues. I think all of these genres will benefit from more co-op like how the beat 'em ups had. Maybe co-op's why I miss them so much.

Consoles: 3DS, Wii U, and Vita soon. Super Paper Mario fan.
