Handheld - Gameboy Color

Traditionally, I received all of my home consoles as gifts from family until the PS3. Every Sony and Nintendo machine prior to last gen I received as a gift.

I got the first gameboy and the pocket version as gifts, but I had to literally break the piggy bank for the GBC. Awesome system.

The NES was the first console I bought with money that I saved, though it was money that came to me via Christmas and Birthdays.

The PS1 was the first console I bought with money that I earned. I worked at the family restaurant. Even though I actually worked for free, my mom would kick a little toward me now and then and I certainly feel that I earned it.

I could be wrong about this, but I think the first game I bought with money that I earned was Suikoden. I remember that the local rental store was selling it for like $3, I think because no one ever rented it, so I bought it. One of the best decisions I've ever made.

First game I bought was probably Spyro 2 on PS1, but I can't remember if it was with my own money.

First handheld console I bought solely with my own money was a Nintendo DS Lite in the summer of 2006. Bought NSMB along with it but that was definitely not the first game I bought.

First home console I bought myself was the Wii, 1st. March of 2007! I remember it like it was yesterday... All other home consoles I got before then were gifts.

Forgot first game. I think the first game I bought with my own money was Final Fantasy X-2.

Xbox 360 with my own money, first game, no idea I can't remember.

FFVIII and FFIX paid $30 each, it was my entire life savings I was about 12. Had to buy it after FFVII being my first Final Fantasy game.

Nintendo GameCube with Resident Evil 0

Colecovision (Came with Donkey Kong) and I bought Lady Bug (Pac-man wannabe) with it...

First game I can't remember...it had to be an N64 game for sure, but who knows which one it was.

As for consoles, it was Wii for me (I was 15)

All my PS consoles have been gifts. I bought a Wii in 2010 to play TP before SS came out (I had just finished OoT and wanted more).

First game was probably something during the PS1 era, MGS maybe or Resident evil.
