Forums - Nintendo - Have you skipped a console gen, and for what reasons?

The only Nintendo gen I have missed is the gamecube, as  i neither had the money or the time for it.

How about other Nintendo, Sony and even Xbox fans out there?

GameCube is the only Nintendo home console I didn't own.

SNES generation because I didn't know it existed until the GC era....

I skipped the SNES (still had a Genesis) cause my parents thought more than 2 console was too much (had a NES).

Then one summer they randomly gave us an N64.

I had to buy my GC tho.

Skipped 1 and 2, or rather missed them

None.
But you missed Gamecube really, I thought the price was alright, time's another story though.

I pretty much skipped GC gen as I was in college and simply too busy. I bought a used GC really late and then gave it away right before Wii launched. Only owned it for a few months, but kept my Metroid Prime 1/2 games and a wavebird so I could finish those games before selling them all when complete.

The only console gens I missed were those pre 64 and the Dreamcast. Although, I've played the SNES at my cousins house.

I now own a PS2, but I essentially skipped that gen.

Money concerns!

Have not really skipped a gen since one of the confusing Sega releases. But 2nd half of last gen I played mostly PC since I missed most of that PC gen.
