Hard to imagine not owning any console for a generation and skipping all the games. Generally even if I hold off by year three the temptation is too great with all the games.

I didn't own a PS1 or N64. I did play them, at friends or borrowed or rented. But I was in university and didn't have the money or time. Also, that gen was a bit of a divide for me because I wasn't a huge fan of the switch to 3D, and I didn't like that a lot of my favorite Nintendo 3rd parties were now on Playstation. Which to get?!? I also didn't buy a GC and have never even touched one because I thought it was stupid. I got back on gaming with XBox and later PS2. I got back on Nintendo gaming with Wii.

I haven't skipped any gen though PS2 was not owned, I had played all games on it I desired to.

I got a PS2 right when the PS3 launched. Does that count?
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
Well ... I nearly skipped last gen because of school, but I eventually got a PS3. I did skip the Wii though. The first Nintendo console I never bothered to get. I'm not a fan of motion controls, at all. The Wii U I'll get though.
Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS
I skipped the playstation generation. I bought a PC just before... It was so much cool to play in my room, with violent games like doom, and new genre for me like real time strategy games or point & click game. Graphics were also a lot better for most games... After 1 or 2 years I was not so much into going back to the family television, saturn was dead, and also I had a grudge about sony that killed my sega.
I really thought I would never again buy a console... I came back to it when I started working. My own apartment, lot of money to spend, GTA:SA not even announced on PC got me
Missed most of 6th gen and only got a PS2 in 2005. Because of school and convincing my parents to give me one. But then I gathered some money and got one, not many games but very good ones like FFX/X-2, gt4, some lesser known jrpgs, and other games kids loved at the time. Didn't play much because of school and I couldn't play during school-time (apart some weekends). Then my brother got a PS3 back in 09 and I got my own a year later. Now I can play all I want!

NES and SNES. No money. Althought, I should have skiped this one until a Zelda game is released.
Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever
Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe
Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor
Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I grew up with my brother's SNES. He got it right before the launch of the N64 because my parents weren't informed well. So the next console for us was the PS2. I have skipped N64/PS1.
I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?
I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.
