Yes, it will be beaten, and there are plenty of candidates to do so. Lets wait for the concrete release dates this e3 and I bet we will find at least 6 games that will match that, and I bet there will be at least one evn on the WiiU

I think it would be more fair to separate games by Retail/Digital as opposed to Indie/Published. It would be a little easier to understand . Also, you should say "No games that originally released in 2013 (like Rayman Legends)" because even I don't understand what you mean when you say "ports originated from last gen".
So basically this would mean: MK8 is the Highest Rated Retail Current Gen Game So Far This Year
I'm pretty sure MK8 would still be on top and it would reduce some of the confusion ^.^
Same story every year really. One of the top rated games is always a Nintendo game. They put a lot more into their big releases than most developers do. Last year it was 3D World and Link Between Worlds.
