I want them to stop it now since it holds back the new gen. I have actually stopped buying games for old gen completely just to do my part in speeding up the process.

| Rêveur said: What reason did they have to stop supporting the PS2 in favor of PS3 and Xbox 360, knowing that the PS2 has sold better than the PS3 and 360? Do you think it would have been a wise decision to continue supporting the PS2 just because of the large install base |
The PS2 was supported for several years after the PS3-launch in November 2006:
Realistically: When there are no more huge profits to be made
My wish: Yesterday, embrace the new consoles already! I only have a Wii U of the new ones at the moment, so that has partly come true.
Yep.

At some point programming for many different systems will cost more than it's worth. For now simple cross gen ports are fine, but as competition keeps going the new and last gen versions will become too different.
It will be a while, PS2 still got new releases last holiday, PES, FIFA, FF11 Seekers of Adoulin, Don 2.
According to Wikipedia PS2 games released:
2013: 4
2012: 6
2011: 8
2010: 20
2009: 90
The thing with this time is that the gen has gone on for a couple more years than it should of, so i expect the drop off to be harsher as last gen sales start to decrease quickly. By the end of 2015, I suspect some of the bigger games will be coming out as current gen only.
Though of course it will be a brave company that only does one gen of a large franchise to test that theory :)

Already are there more last gen ports on the PS4 and Xbox One than there are HD Collections and we're only six months in. |
Why are people so against improved ports? If you do not want them do not buy them but some of us want them and buy them. Problem solved.
